I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend my friends. Stay warm and stay safe.
I'm off to listen to a song by A Flock of Seagulls that's in my 80s playlist. Telecommunication.

It's about two hours by train from Amsterdam to Groningen but today railway workers are on strike and so no NS trains. 'Ah!', I thought, there may be busses'. And indeed there's a Flixbus service every two hours or so in just over two hours. I was in time to get a ticket, a comfortable seat and a pleasant ride up north through the Dutch polders; moreover, the price was far less than my usuual ride by train.
I'd not been on this route before. There was lots to see. Here's a view across the western part of the Tjeukemeer under cumulus clouds to the highest tower at 118 metres at Spannenburg-Tjerkgaast. It was built in 1971-73 and serves Cellnex telecommunication.

Rippled photo of telephone wires in a downtown Seattle skyscraper's "D-mark" room (I've no idea why it's called that but that's what the technicians ask for when they visit the buildings for the first time).
NS D36 slowed pretty hard after Galesville, as it had to enter the siding at Lodge. Nearly a mile farther down the siding, it would meet with NS D17. That meet was rather helpful, as I would not have caught the short train as easily as I did. Too bad I couldn't get that meet at, say, Osman, where I was really hoping to catch it in the first place... ah, well. Lodge will have to do - and it did do fine, but man, it still just isn't the same without the old elevator.
NS6407 & 6406 ran their train through the siding pretty slowly, giving me more than enough time to reach the Monticello intermediate. That worked out pretty well, I have to say. As always with Lodge, take a nice peek at the old codeline on the right, note the way it rises and falls behind the train there. That was to make room for the old highway bridge that once went over the old Wabash main.
