Loc: near Lower Celetar Reservoir, Singapore..
If were a kid, could have played under the raining tree's shades..
If you were with me we could have sat on the bench and pray for the rain not to stop..
----I was waiting under the shelter for the rain to stop...and it was keep raining.
But i love the rain and love it under the tree shades......

I’ve had a few people ask what my basement server rack looks like. Since I’m about to reconfigure the rack, I thought that this would be a good time to document a bit of the “before” and “after”. This is obviously the “before”.
The reconfiguration will include replacing a cranky, ten year old Tripp Lite SmartPro 700RM UPS (the grey device at the very bottom of the rack) with a pair of brand new, slim line APC Smart-UPS 750VA units. I also need to find room to stuff a second Power Macintosh G4 and an Xserve in there somewhere.
Much to my chagrin (and silly pleasure) this photo has been featured on several geektastic sites over the past week or so, including:
Thanks for the linkage, folks.

Journal Entry 3:
The days have been long, and boring. We havent left much due to large amounts of movement in town. We dont want to risk taking a closer look, and even with my eye viewing the town through the Wraith's scope, everything is pretty far away and blurry. When days like these come by, its fun to go and put out a lawnchair and an umbrella (Both of which are camoflaughed, by the way) and sit and watch, or even waste a few rounds trying to hit one. The mutations have amazing hearing, but very poor vision. Even with that accute hearing, they cant seem to place where we are, due to the Wraith being fully inner-barrel supressed. She is a bolt action, and i love her. I clean her daily. She is extremely accurate, and is the best sniper we have scrapped.

this is one of my machines...it's a great machine...my sp1200 will take over the world one day...but for now it's out at jean's patio getting my computer a cherry coke....
And it's done! Old Thomson wireless router fitted with an arduino duemilanove inside, 8 leds on digital out pins, one potentiometer and a footswitch on analog inputs. The footswitch is an old Zoom expression pedal and it has a 100k pot inside it. The midi out port sends midi control change message. The control function is selected with the "select" pot and the value is adjusted with the footpedal. I can send any midi message from this however, so I could turn this into a midi sequencer of sorts, just send midi notes instead of control change messages.
I can choose an effects mode with the toggle switch, which will modulate the control change parameter in different ways. So far I have a random mode, ramp and up-down modes, demonstrated in this youtube video (or the same video on vimeo).
The red freeze button allows me to lock the pedal once I've found a sweet spot. Pretty kick ass for my first Arduino projects! If anybody is intrested in source code or schematics, leave comments below.

My electricity in this small town can go through swings where it blips off for a few seconds-- which is a pain for the home network as the cable modem and 2 wireless routers then need to reboot.
So I decided to get an APC back up power supply (BE750G) with 5 outlets on backup and 5 more on surge suppressor, Since I work mostly on my MacBookPro, the computer staying on juice is not an issue, although I did give one slot to the PC since it has a master and then 3 switched outlets so I can attach the monitor and speakers in the slave, so when the PC is powered down, the others go with it.
I also replaced some old ethernet cables with fresh new blue ones. The whole thing took more than an hour given how my desk is wedged against the wall, and just about everything in the room had to me moved somewhat, and then there was untangling wire knots and finding all kinds of stray un-used cables which had fallen down there.
I was able to lose two power strips, so its a bit more orderly.
Now I am kind of keen for an electrical outage to see how it performs!

In this picture: The breadboard shield fitted nicely on top of the Arduino, only problem was that the digital pins 8-13 on the arduino do not align with the breadboard, i.e. the gap between pins 7 and 8 is not 0.1" (2.54 mm)! That sucks, but it was fairly easy to bend the pins slightly before soldering them on the breadboard.

The AK - High Precision Rifle fires a .400 round. Being a new style of ammunition, the .400 New Breed round has the stopping power and precision comparable to the .408 Cheytac round. The HPR is has a semi automatic fire rate. This HPR is fitted with a High P NZ Scope. Featuring Night vision, as well as Thermal, and normal illuminated reticle zoom, this scope is all that's needed. The Muzzle Break works like an M82 Barret's does, relieving muzzle flash, and recoil. The Grip has an internal Mono-pod, which helps balance the rifle. The bipod (Messed up the colors, its kind of hard to see) folds out, and is adjustable. The stock has a Gyro. The as the force from the round being fired presses back, it hits the top of the Gyro, which sends it spinning. All the force is transfered to the gyro, which makes it spin. As it spins, the Gyro dissipates the force that the shooter feels, lowering recoil. The barcode serves as weapon identification as well as a logo. The tube in front of the scope is like the Halo Sniper. It lifts up, over the scope, and becomes a carrying handle. The bolt cycles under and in front of the cheek rest. the charging handle protrudes an inch or two to the right, and to charge the weapon, you pull and release, like a normal weapon. Once you cock it, you can fire of the whole magazine. Many of the precision-increasing elements are in the body, such as the Straight Line barrel, which increases bullet spin, and Gas Emitter, which helps the bullet travel farther.

Image shot with a Lumix G1 equipped with a DIY tilt/shift bellows lens. The lens is based on a Wollensak 135mm enlarger lens attached to a vintage Honda motorcycle shock tower boot and adapted to an M42 to Nikon F camera mount.

So basically i was researching what kind of dream camera i want (Digital and Film) and of course dream lens (50 mm 1.4G and 24mm-70mm 2.8) and to understand what the different type of lens were I took a couple different shots of the above photo with my 70-300 but zooming in differently. This is a product of being at 165mm.
Anyway, I was out and about again from 1-7pm and didn't have my camera. So i missed the lighting, again. Tried to take some long exposure indoor photos, but this is honestly the best we were going to get today. I'm starting to think maybe I should get up early for the morning golden light.
