A perfect ending to the day was spent with a pair of burrowing owls during a beautiful sunset.

I saw a doe on the other side of a little ravine while I had my camera in my hand. I watched her for a little bit and she called for her baby who suddenly came running from the woods and immediately started drinking from her.

The doe turned her head away from me to lick her baby, so I slowly snuck closer to the edge of the hill, knelt down and took a bunch of pictures. I wanted to try to get a close up angle to see the baby drinking from underneath. I hope you enjoy it.

The red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is a bird of prey, one of three species colloquially known in the United States as the "chickenhawk," though it rarely preys on standard sized chickens. It breeds throughout most of North America, from western Alaska and northern Canada to as far south as Panama and the West Indies, and is one of the most common buteos in North America. Red-tailed hawks can acclimate to all the biomes within their range. There are fourteen recognized subspecies, which vary in appearance and range. It is one of the largest members of the genus Buteo in North America, typically weighing from 690 to 1,600 g (1.5 to 3.5 lb) and measuring 4565 cm (1826 in) in length, with a wingspan from 110145 cm (4357 in). The red-tailed hawk displays sexual dimorphism in size, with females averaging about 25% heavier than males. The bird is sometimes referred to as the red-tail for short, when the meaning is clear in context.

The stone barn, also known as The Frank Schott Stone Barn, located in western Minnesota, was constructed by German immigrant Frank Schott in 1923, showcasing exemplary Midwestern architectural innovation.

According to the Minnesota Historical Society's historical account, the structure's completion took nearly 20 years.

Following the collapse of the barn's wooden roof in 1993, the stone walls continue to stand.

It's not just night herons here. The birds are known to be willing to nest with great blues, egrets, and in this case, the odd mourning dove. Sounds nice and peaceful until nothing but constant fighting breaks out. Maybe this fella wanted a little peace from that crowd.
