This is the most photographed scene of Tallinn the backdrop of a million selfies but like most things it is that way for a reason as this backdrop has it all with steeples, towers all interspersed with elegant homes with the ocean in the distance. This scene contradicts the fact that Tallinn as well as Estonia itself might be the most digitally advanced society on the planet with Wi-Fi available even in the woods going so far as to start in 2005 voting online. Besides beautiful architecture Estonia also boasts the highest per capita of super models in the world it also has some of the tallest people in Europe with men averaging 180cm

Of everywhere we visited in the Baltic States Tallinn was my favorite place even though I could not for the life of me pronounce most of the consonant heavy words used to identify most of the things I found to my liking. This was my first experience with a walled city, Tallinn has almost 2km of intact defenses that were started in the 13th century and weaved into the city walls that stand guard today. This shot captures one of the 26 wall towers that make up Tallinn’s defenses, today the tourism board has made several towers available for touring and certain sections of the wall are open for walking giving fine views of the old town.

As we progressed through the town, light changed and all the city was bathed in golden yellow sunlight, especially pleasant in Autumn.
Tallinn is the best preserved medieval city in Northern Europe boasting Gothic spires, winding cobblestone streets and enchanting architecture.
Once a home to wealthy merchants settling from Germany, Denmark and beyond, Tallinn Old Town today is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, with restaurants, bars, museums and galleries bringing much life to this historical city centre.
Unlike many other capital cities in Europe, Tallinn has managed to wholly preserve its structure of medieval and Hanseatic origin. Due to its exceptionally intact 13th century city plan, the Old Town was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, joining the ranks of the world’s most recognised landmarks. Here you'll find original cobblestone streets dotted with medieval churches and grandiose merchant houses, barns and warehouses many of which date back to the Middle Ages.
