I've had a couple of days in Taipei on my way back from the Philippines this year. Originally I wanted to travel across the country a little but I ended up staying in the city for the whole six days, which now officially marks the longest time I ever stayed in a single city on a vacation trip. I guess the Philippines relaxed me a little too much and I just couldn't find the drive and motivation to do much. I was probably more focused on getting my fix of asian noodle soup variations than anything else. However, I really, really liked the city. It may not be the most beautiful I've ever seen but I very much enjoyed the mixture of different cultures. While I kind of dodged the earthquakes that happened in the Philippines during my stay I had my first official earthquake encounter in Taipei. A small one to be honest but enough to semi-scare a first-timer.
