April 22, 2000. The Dixie Chicks of the CBS special "The Academy of Country Music Awards."

Southern California Edition

Listings for the week of Jan. 25-31, 1964

Last night, I was randomly searching through the on-screen TV guide on my cable box, and I saw that the Cartoon Network listings had 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' scheduled for Wednesday at 7:00. At first I assumed that it was the original Dr. Seuss cartoon version, but I noticed that the description was for the 2000 live-action movie, even though it was only shown in the 7:00-7:30 time slot, with the Smurfs Christmas special listed after it at 7:30 PM.

I attended a tented lawn party here, for the celebration of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour Reunion Special, invitation facilitated by Lorre Crimi, with Mrs. Longo and brother Steve. Spoke with Tommy Smothers, Steve Martin, David Steinberg; event covered by ET for CBS.

I later drew the storyboards for CBS' animated logo, a close variation of which is still seen at the end of some syndicated television shows. This song reminds me of an old club on Ivar Avenue in Hollywood, its entrance was in an alley; heard a great band in it.

ABC ad for the premiere of the late night Dick Cavett Show from December 1969, selling the the talk show host the way the big three automakers sold cars. Current ABC late night talk host Jimmy Kimmel was barely past his second birthday at the time.

Last week, one of my Flickr contacts (Look In The Tunk) uploaded a photo she took of the on-screen description of an episode of 'American Dad', which incorrectly mentioned Lois as one of the characters. I also noticed a different episode of 'American Dad' whose description also incorrectly mentioned Lois as one of the characters.

Ha! This is an ad for a TV show popular in the 1960’s aptly called, “The Outer Limits”.

I have never seen it, but I thought this ad in a vintage TV guide looked as though a child of 9 drew it.
