We were out doing some geocaching in the open desert today when we heard "the sound", the one that desert dwellers always hate to hear. We froze and sure enough under a nearby cholla was a Western Diamondback rattlesnake... more commonly known amongest us desert dwellers as the dreaded "BuzzWorm". They hibernate from late October to early spring, this week the sightings began!

We were about 8-10 feet away when we heard it... moved back abit and used my zoom. They generally don't bother anyone unless they feel threatened, this one never moved. It's the lightest colored rattlesnake I have ever seen, it blended into it's surroundings really well.
