Gosh, its been the craziest 2 weeks ever off of SL. I swore to myself this month I wouldn't procrastinate my posts and what happens? A hurricane hits the center of the united states and wipes out my power and internet for nearly 2 weeks! Needless to say I am so ready to be back in Second Life doing what I love.
So this is another scene on the 1/4 sim I created for myself and Daddy. actually this is a very small part of the actual space that happens to be my favorite. I wanted to create kind of a Grotto area, but was lacking on the Cave aspect, so I created my own closed in area, full of lanterns, sparkles, and flying lights. Its a Magical place to just relax.

The Hebden Bridge local service 595 runs half-hourly via Old Town and Wadsworth before terminating up on the moors in the middle of nowhere a mile or so beyond the route's final hamlet at Pecket Well. One of TLC's Solo SR fleet is about to leave the Crimsworth turning cicle and head back downhill to town.

And as much as I understand TLC's need to clean the house, I can't help but wonder just how many great ideas for a new fire truck will come of it? They want new and original ideas for existing non-licensed themes, yet people bombard them with zombies and master chiefs. Yes, cool city creations would be nice, but how likely are they to reach 10K?

Jan and I crashed the set of a reality TV show on our nearby lake -- TLC's "Best Funeral Ever." The "grieving relatives" were happy to pose.

So I am going to start uploading some of the shoots (wedding, senior portrait, maternity, random) I've done over the last year. I will probably put most of them at the end of my stream, just so as not to have a ton of pages of new stuff at the beginning of my photostream. I will be moving them up a few at a time, but for now, they will just hang out there! Since I don't have a website yet, I want to make sure that I at least have most of what I've done in one place. Jumping over to the other side of the river now! This is Carlo's Bake Shop, which is featured on TLC's "Cake Boss" and is located in Hoboken, NJ. We spent Friday evening here with some friends and on our walk from the PATH train to meet them we stopped here. There wasn't really a line so we were able to walk right up and get a few cupcakes and the best cannoli I've ever had! We even saw a few people from the show inside, including the Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro! This is a 5 handheld exposure HDR processed with HDR and Color Efex.

A Garry Oak at the head of this Moorecroft Bay channel looks out onto one of the islands in the Ballenas-Winchesea Archipelgo. South Winchelsea Island is one of 19 islands that make up the Ballenas-Winchelsea Archipelago. Four of these islands are privately owned.
The Land Conservancy hopes to see the entire archipelago protected through purchase of the private islands and obtaining some form of permanent protected status for the Crown owned islands.
The archipelago is located off the East Coast of Vancouver Island running north from the Lantzville [north Nanaimo] area and Nanoose Harbour to Rathtrevor Beach near Parksville.
South Winchelsea Island was TLC’s first land acquisition. The island is recognized as having national and international significance for its biodiversity values. Its 10.4 hectares (approximately 25 acres) are largely of a relatively undisturbed Garry Oak-Arbutus ecosystem. The Island is being managed as an ecological reserve.

Here it is, I would say one of the best customs I have ever made, I am really proud at how awesome and accurate it came out.
I hope to eventually get a shot where it looks exactly like it does on the original game cover, so keep your eyes open for that.
I didn't use TLC's "Dagger of Time" because the scale of it was far to big, thus, I went with the silver knife.
List of customized pieces:
Double sided face: took off most of the beard except for the part under the mouth.
Torso and Arms: made a sling for the custom sword, painted cuts, made gauntlets with painted spikes, added cloth around the waist, and on the left arm.
Waist and Legs: made holster for dagger, painted boots and designs on the side of the legs.
Comparison photo:
Attaching magnetic couplers directly to the pivoting trucks of a locomotive rather than to its frame has been TLC's standard chassis design ever since 1980. While having a couple of advantages (easy negociation of curves, less load on the motor's pivot pin when pulling long trains), this design often leads to noticeable overhangs and lower parts of the pilot platforms swinging out, as shown above highlighted in green.
So, striving for a even more proto-like behavior of my NW3 when going through curves, and intrigued by how Matt designed his D&RGW caboose, I started working on a frame-mounted coupler approach. The coupler plates to which the magnet holders are attached are now mounted onto the main frame using 2x2 turntables. They pivot left and right as a sort of 3L-long levers between the brackets that hold the steps (lower right).
As it turns out, this design works well for _pulling_ cars, but tends to lock-up and jam when _pushing_ them (effect shown on the left), making it prone for derailments in curves. To solve this issue, the connection between the magnet holder and the coupling plate needed to be stiffened, effectively eliminating one pivot point.
Redesigning the coupler's lever arm using the BL2607 magnet holder would have been an option, but I didn't have those at hands, and so I simply pressed a short piece of 3mm tube into the hollow pin of the normal magnet holder (bottom center, red arrow), thereby increasing the pin's friction to a point where it's nearly immobilized.
WARNING: the opening of the magnet holder's pin is slightly tighter compared to normal Technic pins, so that you'll have to apply a fair amount of force to press in the tube. Be careful not to brake the pin -- make sure to have the magnet holder snapped in place with the coupling plate first!!!
