The awe-inspiring Fisher Towers rise from highly eroded layers of sandstone and mudstone as the Colorado River flows by in the distance, near Moab, Utah. Cottontail Tower is visible on the left, and Titan Tower sits at a commanding height at center.
The lower and middle portions of the Towers are made up of Permian Cutler formation mudstones (290 million years old), while the layer that sits on top is Moenkopi sandstone (245 million years old). The rocks range from red to almost maroon due to varying concentrations of iron oxide in the mineral matrix. The sandstone cap is more resistant to erosion than the mudstone underneath it, and this has allowed the Towers to rise as the surrounding landscape is born slowly away by wind, water, and time.

At 900 feet tall, the Titan is the tallest of the Fisher Towers. The Towers are a series of towers made of sandstone layers and caked with a stucco of red mud. They are a popular climbing location located near Moab, Utah. While we did glimpse one climber on top of The Titan, he went down the other side of the tower. This is a view of The Titan from near the end of the Fisher Towers Trail.

Titan Clydebank is a 150-foot-high (46 m) cantilever crane at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It was designed to be used in the lifting of heavy equipment, such as engines and boilers, during the fitting-out of battleships and ocean liners at the famous John Brown & Company shipyard. It was also the world's first electrically powered cantilever crane, and the largest crane of its type at the time of its completion.
Situated at the end of a U-shaped fitting out basin, the crane was used to construct some of the largest ships of the 20th century, including the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth 2. The Category A Listed historical structure was refurbished in 2007 as a tourist attraction and shipbuilding museum.

This Titan Arum was photographed in Kew Gardens a few days after the one I posted earlier. Although it was past its best, I was delighted to see it. Although the plant is native to Sumatra, the background forest is from Gabon.

El sol hace ya diez minutos que cruzó el horizonte y el brillo del cielo comienza a apagarse, la tenue luz llega con sutileza a cada rincón del desierto y muestra con todo detalle la rugosidad, las formaciones y la extrañeza del lugar.
Una formación destaca del resto, a mis ojos es como un gran busto enterrado hasta el pecho que se alza en el cielo y exhibe con orgullo los estratos que lo han formado a lo largo de los años.
Bajo esta formación hay un angosto y estrecho pero profundo cauce seco resultado de la fuerte erosión de la tierra tan poco compacta y las escasas pero fuertes lluvias torrenciales.
En el silencio más absoluto el paisaje se vuelve inquietante.

A month ago or so Titans was released here in Germany on Netflix. So I watched it. I thought it would be awful (Trailer) but I enjoyed it pretty much.
Oh yeah the figs. They are "loosly" inspired by the show and the wonderful art of Gabriel Picolo. You probably heard of him before but if not please check him out. His art is phenomenal.

West towards Whiteinch from the north bank of the Clyde. Sunlit, modern residential buildings look down on the old Barclay Curle shipyard and titan crane.
The Grove of Titans, a new park development along the Howland Hill Rd. just down from the Stout Grove, is spectacular. A 1500' metallic-mesh walkway works off the Mill Creek Trail and takes you around the redwood grove, sparing the root systems of these titans from the daily stress of hikers. This conservation measure is extraordinary in both concept and form. The Screaming Titans depicts a 30' wide double-trunk tree, seen on the left. While I wish I'd shown that more clearly, I chose this angle for the scale provided by the two hikers. Don't miss a visit here if your travels take you up the northern section of the Redwood National and State Parks.
