It was actually Robert Smith's birthday on Friday but Eternal Vampire Prince won out. Anyway, this was actually taken from the crowd. Even though I had a photopass for the music festival he was headlining, he decided sort of last minute he would not allow any photographers in the pit. I am not sure why but maybe it had something to do with a hairspray issue (that's my wild stab at a guess and/or my attempt at humor). ANYWAY, I have been a Cure fan since I was a cool goth teenager before all my high school classmates discovered that poser Marilyn Manson and thought it was also cool to wear black and then suddenly I was not the only one in my school looking like I had spent all night reading Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton and I stopped wearing black for awhile because I was so annoyed but I didn't ever stop listening to The Cure.

Anyway, I hope he had a nice birthday on Friday. There was recently some drama about the cost of concert tickets and I wish people like Robert Smith and Taylor Swift who actually have some pull would put their foot down or just cut out Ticketmaster all together. Then, we could all enjoy the glorious hairspray. And, also the music.

I realize I am not funny.

Day 1 of 20 of albums that influenced my musical tastes. I'll start with Standing on a Beach. I remember listening this CD everyday in my high school years, in my house or in my friend's room, feeding our minds with these dark sounds and some bright musical notes, creating our perfect soundtrack for the teenager.

The album was titled Staring at the Sea in CD format in some countries is the first greatest hits album by the English band the Cure, released in the United States on 15 May 1986 by Elektra Records and in the United Kingdom on 19 May 1986 by Fiction Records, marking a decade since the band's founding in 1976. "I've been looking so long at these pictures of you

That I almost believe that they're real

I've been living so long with my pictures of you

That I almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel

Remembering you standing quiet in the rain

As I ran to your heart to be near

And we kissed as the sky fell in, holding you close

How I always held close in your fear

Remembering you running soft through the night

You were bigger and brighter and wider than snow

You screamed at the make-believe, screamed at the sky

And you finally found all your courage to let it all go

Remembering you, fallen into my arms

Crying for the death of your heart

You were stone white, so delicate

Lost in the cold

You were always so lost in the dark

Remembering you how you used to be

Slow drowned, you were angels

So much more than everything

Hold for the last time then slip away quietly

Open my eyes, but I never see anything

If only I'd thought of the right words

I could have held on to your heart

If only I'd thought of the right words

I wouldn't be breaking apart

All my pictures of you

Looking so long at these pictures of you

But I never hold on to your heart

Looking so long for the words to be true

But always just breaking apart

My pictures of you

There was nothing in the world that I ever wanted more

Than to feel you deep in my heart

There was nothing in the world that I ever wanted more

Than to never feel the breaking apart.

My pictures of you"

Lovesong

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am home again

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am whole again

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am young again

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away

I will always love you

However long I stay

I will always love you

Whatever words I say

I will always love you

I will always love you

Fly me to the moon

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am free again

Whenever I'm alone with you

You make me feel like I am clean again

However far away

I will always love you

However long I stay

I will always love you

Whatever words I say

I will always love you

I will always love you

We have been experience some extreme weather in this area.

With scorching temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius (108 degrees Fahrenheit) and predicted 45 degrees for the weekend, with the thermic sensation over 50 degrees, the air is so heavy. I remember that in The Stranger ( L'Étranger, lit. 'The Foreigner'), also published in English as The Outsider, a 1942 novel written by French author Albert Camus, the main character, Meursault gets disoriented and on the edge of heatstroke, shoots and kills another character when he flashes his knife at him.

I think it is time for a refreshing lager. and maybe if Meursault had a beer at noon, these tragic event may never happened.

Out of this world

Watching me fall

Where the birds always sing

Maybe someday

The last day of summer

There is no if...

When we look back at it all as I know we will

You and me, wide eyed

I wonder

Will we really remember how it feels to be this alive?

And Sunday always comes too late but friday... I'm in love...

The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1978. Throughout numerous lineup changes since the band's formation, guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter Robert Smith has remained the only constant member. The band's debut album was Three Imaginary Boys (1979) and this, along with several early singles, placed the band in the post-punk and new wave movements that had sprung up in the United Kingdom.

Went to see The Cure @ The Hollywood Bowl last night! They put on a 3 hour show! I grew up listening to this band as an early teen! I was really excited to the see them perform again. Robert Smith looked exactly as I remember him 15 years ago (a little chubbier though)! He's not the best looking man I'll admit, has an odd sense of style....but a great musician and a true artist!

And crawled across the mirror

I wait

Await the next breath

Your name like ice into my heart

A shallow grave

A monument to the ruined age

Ice in my eyes

And eyes like ice don't move

Screaming at the Moon

Another past time

I'm a sucker for airplane photos! :)

I chose an eternity of this

Like falling angels

The world disappeared

Laughing into the fire

Is it always like this?

Flesh and blood and the first kiss

The first colours

The first kiss...

Where every word that you write

Of every blood dark sea

And every soul black night

And every dream you dream me in

And every perfect free from sin

And burning eyes

And hearts on fire

Are just the same old song..."

In my youth I was a huge fan of The Cure and Japanese Whispers was the first album of theirs that I bought. I then proceeded to buy any Cure album I could lay my hands on. This is my take on the album title and the background is the album cover. There is a coloured shot in comments with more of the album showing.
