Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura). This pair of love birds have been hanging around my property for the past four years. They use the Spanish moss hanging in my oak tree to build their nests.
They try nesting in some unusual places around my yard. Hanging planters are their favorites. Every spring they go through this ritual of affection for each other and then its off to forage for twigs and moss. Wonder where their nest will be this time?
An estimated 20.000 Sand Hill Cranes spend the winter here in Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area near McNeal, Arizona.

Well, who has an idea where we ended up? That's right, that's Lake Constance, with the island of Lindau in the middle of the picture.
Severe storms were announced for the coming night, which finally broke over us. When we reached our spectacular vantage point near Eichenberg in Austria, the sky was already covered with thick, dark clouds. The prospect of a sunset view (the real reason we went here) was extremely minimal. Only on the horizon was there a thin, light stripe that was enough for us to decide to wait..
Luckily, because suddenly the cloud cover opened in exactly the right place like a heavenly portal and we were treated to a spectacular nature experience.
We could only stand and marvel as the light and the atmosphere kept changing with the setting sun and the moving clouds. An utterly mesmerizing sight.
The only awkward part of this trip came when, from the many shots, I had to choose one over all the others. Hell for a photographer.
Na, wer hat schon eine Idee, wo es uns hinverschlagen hat ? Richtig, das ist der Bodensee, mit der Insel Lindau in der Mitte des Bildes.
Für die kommende Nacht wurden uns schwere Unwetter angekündigt, welche dann schlußendlich auch über uns hereingebrochen sind. Als wir unseren spektakulären Aussichtspunkt bei Eichenberg in Österreich erreicht hatten, war der Himmel auch schon von dicken und dunklen Wolken bedeckt. Die Aussicht auf einen Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang (der eigentliche Grund unseres Besuches hier) war äußerst gering. Lediglich am Horizont war ein dünner heller Streifen zu sehen der ausgereicht hat, dass wir uns zum Abwarten entschieden.
Zum Glück, denn plötzlich öffnete sich genau an der richtigen Stelle die Wolkendecke gleich einem himmlischen Portal und wir wurden mit einem spektakulären Naturerlebnis beschenkt.
Wir konnten nur dastehen und staunen, denn der Lichteinfall und die Atmosphäre veränderten sich mit der sinkenden Sonne und den sich bewegenden Wolken ununterbrochen. Ein ganz und gar faszinierender Anblick.
Der einzig unangenehme Teil dieses Ausfluges kam, als ich mich, aus den vielen Aufnahmen, für eine und somit gegen alle anderen enscheiden musste. Die Hölle für einen Fotografen.

I went for a wander today. As I neared the Sneydes Rd. Paddock I spotted this Spider wrapping a Grasshopper for later comsumption.

After much dancing around and tugging the Dragonfly was eventually dissected to be shared.
On the far horizon, the setting sun.
Last beams of golden light search their way through the open window. A murmuring brook flows to the song of the birds outside. Wind gently brushes the cherry trees and carries the scent of flowers inside the quiet room. With a deep sigh he lifts his gaze from his graphic tablet, eying his work in a critical manner. Maybe it was time for a break? He turns towards u10. They've been quietly working side by side. It was a comfortable silence between them, that he rarely felt with others. A smile whisks over his face as he watches him.
A moment passes, before he gets up and disappears into the kitchen, only to return with a red fox cup, filled with fruit vinegar. He takes a seat on the edge of u10's pillow, gently he leaning onto him.
"Here.", he almost whispers, while passing the cup to him.
"Asahi-kun." A genuine smile spreads across u10's lips.
"Thank you.", he says accepting the cup. "We should take a break and stretch."
Asahi chuckles and thoughtfully he taps his chin with his index finger. "How about... would you like to watch a movie?"
"Hai!", u10 replies with a hearty laughter.

Still in the archives ... I took m'lady, Rosa, to New York City for our honeymoon in 2013. We've been together since 2003 but we married in 2013. No, that's not Rosa at the top of the stairs in this photo (but it is me in the bottom left corner). You can, however, see Rosa (and me) in a photo taken on that same trip in the first comment box below. :)

That's our boathouse on the left which is no longer a boathouse (it has a bedroom up and a change room for swimming down) but we still call it the the boathouse. My long time Flickr friends will recognize the islands under the rainbows given they are the subject of so many of my photos. :)
