1856. Russian Orthodox Church. Nowadays Rue de Longchamp.
Winter 1864 - 1865. Tsar Alexander II and his wife move to the Villa Brémond.
The death of the 20 year old tsar-evictch Nicolas Alexandrovitch interrupts the stay.
Deeply affected by the grief, the parents bought the Villa Bremond, had it demolished and had a mausoleum built in memory of their child.
The Empress Marie Féodorovna, widow of Tsar Alexander III, stayed in Nice with her children.
The sovereign noted that the church was too small for worship and decided to build the cathedral.
1903. Work on the cathedral begins.
The plans were signed by the Russian architect Preobrazhensky, who had just shown the extent of his talent by designing the Russian church in Florence.
1912. The construction of the cathedral is completed.
2011. The Nice Cathedral is returned to the Moscow Patriarchate.
Nice Cathedral is the largest Orthodox religious building built outside Russia.

Hiver 1864 – 1865. Le Tsar Alexandre II et son épouse s’installent à la Villa Brémond.
Le décès du tsarévictch Nicolas Alexandrovitch, âgé de 20 ans, interrompt le séjour.
Très marqués par la douleur, les parents rachètent la Villa Brémond, la font détruire et font élever un mausolée en souvenir de leur enfant.
L’Impératrice Marie Féodorovna, veuve du Tsar Alexandre III, séjourne à Nice avec ses enfants.
La souveraine constatant que l’église est trop petite pour le culte. la construction de la cathédrale est décidée.
1903. Lancement des travaux de la cathédrale.
Les plans sont signés de l’architecte russe Préobrajensky qui vient de montrer l’ampleur de son talent en concevant l’église russe de Florence.
1912. Achèvement des travaux de construction de la cathédrale.
2011. La cathédrale de Nice est retournée au patriarcat de Moscou.
La cathédrale de Nice est le plus grand édifice religieux orthodoxe construit hors de Russie.
