A Trumpeter Swan lands at Lake Artemesia in College Park, Maryland. This Swan is not indigenous to this area so I'm guessing it used to be kept as a pet?
I'd heard that we had one at Lake Artemesia and sure enough it was there. I photographed it for a bit but then it took off and looked like it was leaving. I focused on my camera for a bit and then surprise, the swan came back and I just had time to capture it landing.

After hearing news of the RBG still present I made a return trip early morning. The sun was just about to show itself and I saw TWO male RBG flitting around the dense poison Hemlock. This one was chasing it off. I took some nice frame fillers and came back later and did see a female Grosbeak, but was unsure if it was of the Rose type. They look the same as the Black Headed to me. I went back early this morning and stuck around for about 30 min. plus and no signs of the males. We've been fortunate to have these vagrants visit this year. I shall post more later :) Enjoy :)
Ta Prohm es un templo jemer de finales del siglo XII, ubicado en el complejo de Angkor (Camboya), declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1992.
Denominado originalmente Rajavihara ("monasterio real" el templo sirvió como monasterio budista, llegando a alojar al menos a 12.640 personas.3 En la actualidad la fama de este templo se debe al hecho de ser uno de los pocos monumentos que todavía no ha sido "rescatado de la selva", pues fue el templo elegido por la École française d'Extrême-Orient para mostrar el estado en el que se encontraban los templos de Angkor a finales del siglo XIX, cuando fueron descubiertos por los occidentales. A raíz de esta falta de intervención, el lugar ofrece una impactante combinación de ruinas y naturaleza que lo han convertido en una de las principales atracciones turísticas de Camboya.

Each temple at Angkor has a different character. The Ta Som Temple is smaller in scale but still well preserved. Like many of the Angkor temples, various structures are enveloped in large ficus (fig) trees. Over time the roots and limbs of the ficus become intertwined to form a unique visual juxtaposition.

This Ta Ta Lizard was observed leaping from the base of a tree to catch this stunning grasshopper at Litchfield NP! The grasshoppers feed on astringent plants, making them very distasteful and potentially toxic, hence their aposematic colouration. The toxicity levels of the species is poorly known - so too the tolerance of predators, but this lizard had no problems with munching it down!

I sometimes find myself reshooting places. Sometimes it's purposely planned. Other times, like this, it's purely accidental.
Well, not purely.
I follow a path when I travel. I have certain things I need to shoot, and I generally don't deviate from that path. Somehow this old service station was on my path, but not marked as a stop.
This happens a lot too. I have no idea how long a day will last or where I'll stay or get to even the next day. I love traveling like this. There's enough of a sense of wandering to satisfy that primal urge. But there's also a sense of order to satisfy all those orderly bits about me.

Geranium
The first flower has opened on the Geranium. You may recall I posted an image the buds recently.
Le Ta Prohm a été construit sous le règne de Jayavarman VII comme monastère et université bouddhique Mahāyāna sous le nom Rājavihara (le monastère du roi). Dans un premier temps, une des statues ayant été découvertes dans le temple fut attribuée au roi Ta Prohm d'où l'origine du nom du temple.En 1904, Etienne Aymonier suggère qu'il s'agit plutôt du roi Jayavarman VII ; son hypothèse fût confirmée par l'EFEO en 1922.
En 1181, Jayavarman VII inaugure un règne qui voit la cité d'Angkor atteindre son apogée. En effet, on estime à près de 250.000 personnes vivant dans la cité, ce qui est considérable si la compare à Paris à la même époque, avec à peine 80 000 habitants.
Pendant ses 30 ans de règne, Jayavarman VII se lance dans la construction de grands temples : c'est le roi bâtisseur. Il élève les fortifications qui entourent la ville mais aussi les temples de Ta Prohm, Preah Khan, le Banteay Kdei et bien d'autres.
