The Bay Area Rapid Transit still operates Rohr-built trains dating from the system's opening in the late 1960s. Number 1223 slows for a stop at West Oakland after crossing the bay from San Francisco.

With the Northern Taconic Mountains visible in the distance, the Vermont Rail System's Green Mountain Railroad Train 263-26 slowly climbs the western slope of the Green Mountains at East Clarendon, Vermont. Operating as a combined freight and Maintenance-of-Way train, GMRC Train 263-26 rolls across Gaynor's Crossing in East Clarendon with 4 loaded open-top hoppers en route to Okemo for ballast work and 27 loaded limestone slurry cars for Pan Am Railways at Bellows Falls, Vermont in tow behind Vermont Railway EMD SD70M-2 431 and GATX Corporation EMD GP38-2 2215.

University of Missouri System’s Advocacy-Mentoring Program held its 2012 Torch Awards on Nov. 15, 2012 to mark the completion of an 18-month mentorship program.

The mentoring relationship is meant to increase the number of competitive minority- and women-owned firms that wish to do business with one of the University of Missouri’s four campuses. Women- or minority-owned businesses are defined as business entities in which at least 51 percent of the ownership interest, stock or otherwise, is minority or woman owned.

One of Amberwood's residents, Hubert D. dressed up as Santa Claus and entertained staff/residents by passing out candy canes and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas

The "Amberwood Choir" (put together by about 10 residents) performed for everyone and led us all in singing a few familiar Christmas Tunes - They have been practicing for weeks and they sounded great!

Rockford Health System's Medical Laboratories donated a gift for each resident at Amberwood which were passed out during the party along with the "Giving Tree" gifts that staff, family and local area citizens purchased for them.

Of course, it wouldn't be a party without some treats, the kitchen staff prepared aandwiches, cookies, punch and snacks for everyone to enjoy.

Between the amazing generosity of the Rockford Health System's Medical Laboratories and those that participated in the "Giving Tree" program, all of our residents had an extra special Christmas this year. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.

Come on!

Uggh!

Come on, although ya try to discredit

Ya still never edit

The needle, I’ll thread it

Radically poetic

Standin’ with the fury that they had in ’66

And like e-double I’m mad

Still knee-deep in the system’s shit

Hoover, he was a body remover

I’ll give ya a dose

But it’ll never come close

To the rage built up inside of me

Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy

Movements come and movements go

Leaders speak, movements cease

When their heads are flown

’cause all these punks

Got bullets in their heads

Departments of police, the judges, the feds

Networks at work, keepin’ people calm

You know they went after king

When he spoke out on vietnam

He turned the power to the have-nots

And then came the shot

Yeah!

Yeah, back in this...

Wit’ poetry, my mind I flex

Flip like wilson, vocals never lackin’ dat finesse

Whadda I got to, whadda I got to do to wake ya up

To shake ya up, to break the structure up

’cause blood still flows in the gutter

I’m like takin’ photos

Mad boy kicks open the shutter

Set the groove

Then stick and move like I was cassius

Rep the stutter step

Then bomb a left upon the fascists

Yea, the several federal men

Who pulled schemes on the dream

And put it to an end

Ya better beware

Of retribution with mind war

20/20 visions and murals with metaphors

Networks at work, keepin’ people calm

Ya know they murdered x

And tried to blame it on islam

He turned the power to the have-nots

And then came the shot

Uggh!

What was the price on his head?

What was the price on his head!

I think I heard a shot (5 times)

I think I heard, I think I heard a shot

Background: ’black nationalism’

’he may be a real contender for this position should he

Abandon his supposed obediance to white liberal doctrine

Of non-violence...and embrace black nationalism’

’through counter-intelligence it should be possible to

Pinpoint potential trouble-makers...’

’and neutralise them’

Wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up!

Wake up! wake up! wake up! wake up!

Spoken: ’how long? not long, ’cause

What you reap is what you sow.’

In the 2023 Electrify Tech Camp, students learned to:

*Explore the components of an electric vehicle

*Construct a device run on solar energy

*Maximize a system’s power efficiency

*Use an electronic circuit to channel power

*Scavenge energy from the environment

Electrify Tech Camps is offered by the Electrical & Computer Engineering division at the University of Michigan.

The Enchanted Garden at Howard County Library System's Miller Branch is now certified by MonarchWatch as an official Monarch Waystation. The plaque was unveiled last night at during a Tween Sprouts youth garden club class in the garden during which students planted hots plants for monarchs, including milkweed.

The Enchanted Garden contributes to monarch conservation and provides a habitat and resources necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations and sustain their migration. We have three youth garden clubs, The Green Fingers, The Tween Sprouts, and The Enchanted Garden Youth Corps.

Project Profile: STERIGENTICS – Charlotte, NC

65,549 sf

Sterigentics was facing the typical problem facilities have when their roofs are 25 years old, leaks. A lot of the flashing around the HVAC units and skylights had deteriorated and was letting water underneath the membrane. After inspecting the existing insulation, we determined not all the insulation was damaged or wet so we were able to sa...lvage most of it, reducing the overall cost of the project.

They were happy with the previous TPO roof system’s chemical resistance, reflectivity and durability so we specified a mechanically attached re-cover with GAF’s 60-mil TPO membrane. We tore off all 65,549 square feet of the existing membrane and replaced the wet insulation as needed. Since there is a lot of foot traffic on the roof we installed walkpads at all the HVAC units for added durability. All the parapet walls, scuppers, curbs and penetrations were re-flashed and Sterigentics got a brand new roof. GAF Inspectors rated this roof system a perfect 10 on their visit, and we were able to give them a 20 year warranty.

In this sharp snapshot, the Solar System's largest moon Ganymede poses next to Jupiter, the largest planet. Captured on March 10 with a small telescope from our fair planet Earth, the scene also includes Jupiter's Great Red Spot, the Solar System's largest storm. In fact, Ganymede is about 5,260 kilometers in diameter. That beats out all three of its other fellow Galilean satellites, along with Saturn's Moon Titan at 5,150 kilometers and Earth's own Moon at 3,480 kilometers. Though its been shrinking lately, the Great Red Spot's diameter is still around 16,500 kilometers. Jupiter, the Solar System's ruling gas giant, is about 143,000 kilometers in diameter at its equator. That's nearly 10 percent the diameter of the Sun. via NASA
