Eine riesige Böenwalze rollt auf Bondi Beach (Sydney, Australien) zu. Sie war Vorbotin einer Sturmfront, die heftige Gewitter mit sich brachte (aus der Bilderklärung in der Ausstellung)

A huge roll cloud is arriving at Bondi Beach (Syney, Australia). It was the harbinger of a squall line, which brought with violent thunderstorms (taken from the picture legend)

Sydney by night, it's quite interesting to go over some older pics and edit them again after your knowledge and technique for editing these kind of pics has changed quite a lot. I work a lot with luminosity masks and layer blending modes now.

On 25 February 1961 the former Sydney tramway system met its demise. Every year on the Sunday closest to the date Sydney Tramway Museum opens its gates to welcome people to a vintage tram festival. I took this shot in the Museum's running shed - pride of place is the Museums' first acquisition L/P - 154 behind 154 you see the museums latest acquisition LRV2107.

NSW/Australia (The Sydney Harbour Bridge, also known as the 'Coathanger', was opened on March 19th 1932 by Premier Jack Lang, after six years of construction. Made of steel the bridge contains 6 million hand driven rivets. The surface area that requires painting is equal to about the surface area of 60 sports fields. The Bridge has huge hinges to absorb the expansion caused by the hot Sydney sun. You will see them on either side of the bridge at the footings of the Pylons.

Its total length including approach spans is 1149 metres and its arch span is 503 metres. The top of the arch is 134 metres above sea level and the clearance for shipping under the deck is a spacious 49 metres. The total steelwork weighs 52,800 tonnes, including 39,000 tonnes in the arch. The 49 metre wide deck makes Sydney Harbour Bridge the widest Longspan Bridge in the world...)

A very local storm moved in and out mid afternoon over Syney this afternoon so a quick trip into the city to grab a few shots before it hit was called for. Here, the Opera House gives a sense of scale to the approaching front.

Comments, as always, appreciated.

My first attempt at Digital Blending

This is a bit of an experiment to see if I can do a blog post on Street Fashion Sydney and show the pictures large size here on Flickr; and if there is any point in doing so! Of course I love the pictures I show on my blogs but few of them ever make it onto Flickr. After all I started the blogs back in 2007/2008 to show pictures in series that seemed to kill my Flickr stream. And it seemed to work. So many years later, time to try to flip it the other way. See what happens in 2016? They are all in thier own set if you care to take a look. The last days of Mils Gallery.
