The south wind is flowing over the Matterhorn bringing the bad weather. For those at the summit it is now too late to escape.

This rather short cliff walk is located at First Summit (2,168 m) right above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. It is very stable and not dangerous at all.
First and the cliff walk can best be reached by cable car from Grindelwald. The gondola ride takes 25 minutes and offers spectacular views.

Pointe de Paray is a mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is located on the border between the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud near the Gruyère region. Altitude: 2,375 metres.
On the far left outside you see the Schreckhorn, exactly in the middle the Eiger with the famous Eiger north face. To the right of it the Mönch and to the right the Jungfrau. There the famous mountain railroad leads up and it is called "Top of Europe".
This picture was taken on a cold January morning from my bedroom window! Yes we have a great view and every day I enjoy this view of the Alps, weather and visibility permitting. Beautiful. The Alps are about 80 kilometers away as the crow flies. But with a clear view, every detail is visible with a telephoto lens.
Thanks to the Flickr team for including this in Explore and thanks to everyone for the likes and comments. This encourages me to keep taking good photos! Have a nice day.

Swiss Alps, Zermatt - A banner cloud rolling in, taken from the window of a large size of the cable car we riding in.
"A banner cloud is one of a number of different cloud types that are grouped as orographic clouds. This defines them as being caused by the shaped of the land, with orographic (from the Greek óρος meaning 'hill') referring to the relief of land and mountains."

It's such an AWE scenic drive on the Bernina Pass in Switzerland. Too bad, the tour bus can't stop at any point. The only oppo. for photography was to shoot against the window. The scenery was BREATHTAKING all the way.
"The Bernina Pass (el. 2,328 m or 7,638 ft.) (Italian: Passo del Bernina) is a high mountain pass in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland. It connects the famous resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina."
Please refer to another shot below in the comment. Btw, this pass is on the UNESCO heritage site.
The Bernina Pass (el. 2,328 m or 7,638 ft.) is a high mountain pass in the canton of Grisons/Graubünden in Eastern Switzerland.
The pass is crossed by road and rail. I took the photo during a train trip from Pontresina to Alp Grüm.
