Karlskrona Town and port , capital of the Län ( Country ) of Blekinge, southern Sweden .. one of the largest fishing harbour in Sweden ...

le's Stones (Swedish: Ales stenar or Ale stenar) is a megalithic monument in Scania in southern Sweden. It is a stone ship, oval in outline, with the stones at each end markedly larger than the rest. It is 67 m (220 ft) long formed by 59 large boulders, weighing up to 5 tonnes each.

The carbon-14 dating system for organic remains has provided seven results at the site. One indicates that the material is around 5,500 years old, whereas the remaining six indicate a date about 1,400 years ago. The latter is considered to be the most likely time for Ales Stenar to have been created. That would place its creation towards the end of the Nordic Iron Age

Thanks for waiting to a non-photography friend :-)

Sweden - Viking Stone Ship

Gettlinge burial site/ Gettlinge gravfält Öland

Viking stone ship at Gettlinge, in the southwest portion of the island of Öland, Sweden.

The stone ship was an early burial custom in Scandinavia. The grave or cremation burial was surrounded by stones in the shape of a ship. The ships vary in size and were erected from about 1000 BC to 1000 AD. The standing stones of the Viking ship are granite, which moraine materials were pushed here from the mainland by ice age glaciers.

In the background a typical Öland wooden post mill from later centuries and further away by the beach a modern wind turbine.

A "Dutch Mill" from 1851 - is situated next to Slottsträdgården. The area also features a well-preserved miller's house and garden. This site is a popular place for outdoor concerts and other summertime events.

I have never seen so many Bullfinches as I did on my visit to Sweden, they were everywhere, as common as sparrows !!

This is my twin brother putting the fishnet. He's crazy about go out fishing like I'm about taking pictures. Did happen many times, while I was out late in the evening or early in the morning for some longer exposures, that I saw him in the boat going to some fishy spot. Yup we are different but same.

This day (19th July) was quite interesting for me photographically speaking, firstly I went for a "in the forest" walk in the morning and then late evening went out on the boat with my twin brother and younger brother and my uncle. So from now on a serie of "from the boat pictures"

The entrance hall of a Swedish Manor House, built in 1702. Vallby, Sweden. Hasselblad X2D.

On our summer 22 road trip through Sweden we had the great opportunity to see and experience the beauty of the Swedish mountains. This one's a drone shot I took in order to get this wide vista. Love the nature of Scandinavia.
