The Elysian Brewing Company is a brewery that operates three pubs in Seattle. On January 23, 2015, it was announced that Elysian would be sold to Anheuser-Busch. This deal means that Elysian Brewing Company will no longer meet the Brewers Association definition of a "craft brewery", since full ownership by Anheuser-Busch exceeds the definition's 25% maximum ownership by a non-craft brewery

In 1986 EMDX 9055, today’s CN 5419, rolled off the production lines at EMD’s LaGrange Illinois plant. That same year saw the founding of the legendary Seattle record label Sub Pop. Within a few short years the mighty little label would put out seminal early recordings by Mudhoney, Soundgarden and Nirvana among many many others. By 1991 Seattle was the center of the known universe as the so called “Seattle sound” sound took over the airwaves and grunge fashion (or anti-fashion) became all the rage the world over. That time period is considered by many to have been the last true rock n roll culture-craze not unlike Elvis and rockabilly, The Beatles and the British Invasion, Flower Power, Glam Rock, Punk Rock,Disco (regrettably) and New Wave. EMD’s 60-series locomotives were similarly the last of a great lineage, within a decade they would be eclipsed by GE, a defeat from which they would never recover. Sure there were glimmers of hope in the SD75’s and the 70mac’s but the sun had already begun to set on EMD as the premier locomotive manufacturer.

Univox Super-Fuzz and Ibanez Standard Fuzz.

The Super-Fuzz wins the match, but the Standard Fuzz does octave-up better than the Super-Fuzz.

Still, they both kill on contact.

Just a short demo of the more extreme settings of the Super Fuzz Pain Generator! What a freakshow. I mean, it will do some fuzz pedal stuff, but at the outer edges of its range it does...well, THIS! Pete Townshend used one of these every night for years...of course, he also frequently smashed his gear into tiny pieces, so perhaps I should have expected this...

Update: I solved the Super Fuzz mystery. The octave trimmer was the culprit. As you back down the octave trimmer, for some reason it increases the gain until the pedal is completely uncontrollable. I don't know why that wasn't more obvious to me sooner. With the octave trimmer up to about 3/4, the gain becomes much more manageable. Which, for some reason, is just the opposite of what I thought was going on. So I kept the trimmer low and it was making the pedal a nightmare.

Sure this background isn't pleasing, but I never forsake the opportunity to photograph these beauties. It's the moth version of a pajama party!

The lineup: mooer pure boost (treble boost), boss super overdrive, joyo JF12 fuzz (modeled after the univox superfuzz with some added functions), behringer delay (tape delay used), boss chorus ensemble, into a Princeton Reverb, with a telecaster at the front end.

What a great surprise to find this big and beautiful fluffy moth this evening. At first I was sure this was a white flannel moth. The overly bushy body and legs of this creature are very similiar.

You would think that after buying a movie three times on DVD I would eventually get the version I wanted. Not so when it comes to one of my all time favorites 'Super Fuzz'.

Super Fuzz is another one of those movies HBO used to run to death in it's early days. It stars Terrence Hill and Ernest Borgnine and tells the story of a rookie cop who develops super powers during a mishap on his first assignment. In 2005 a UK DVD of the film hit shelves as part of the Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill collection series. I eagerly grabbed a copy from Amazon.co.uk only to find out that the cut of the film was oddly different from what I had grown used to on HBO & VHS.

The extra scenes and strangeness wasn't so bad, but the dubbing of one of the characters was a bit more than I could handle. While the release date of the next version says 2004 I don't recall seeing this psuedo bootlegg DVD of Super Fuzz on Amazon.com until after being duped by the UK version. The extremely shoddy cover art just reaked of piss-poor-production so I held off ordering a copy initially.

It seemed like I had made the right choice as a proper US release of Super Fuzz was destined to come out. To top it off, it was in glorious widescreen. Although they got the region correct on the new DVD they used the UK edit once again. This is even more of a shame as the picture quality of this release is purely top notch. This dissapointment led me to pick up the uber sub-par 2004 release. The quality of this DVD is just absolutely terrible. It's as if someone filmed a VHS copy of the movie and burned it to DVD. While its still enjoyable, it pains me to know that a stellar widescreen version exists, just not the version I know and love.

So, there you have it - three DVDs of the same movie, yet none of them correct. I have a plan to edit the widescreen UK version, fix the audio, and attempt to make a PROPER version of the film finally. Need to get my PC back up and running before I can attempt that though.
