My neighbour caught this moment in a gorgeous sunset on her phone on February 6.
Somebody in this house did mention that there were "some pinkish colours" over to the west of the house. Obviously he is the master of understatement..... and I continued on with supper making ... oblivious to the fact that this was taking place right outside the window!!!
I'm glad she took and sent a photo for me to see it....
Hope you enjoy it as well.

Hola.
Besos y abrazos.

was walking along Michigan Ave. on the bridge heading towards the Millenium Park when i noticed this reflection of the setting sun on the side of this building with glass skin...thought it looked pretty awesome and took the shot intending to do an HDR process to exagerrate the colors a little bit...the reflections on Trump Tower's side was stunning too.....pls. this is a 15 second long exposure shot of the city skyline right around the start of sunset...i achieved this look by stacking 2 filters, a 10 stop ND filter for a longer exposure setting, and a circular polarizer filter to help control the sky exposure and get an even exposure between the sky and the foreground...really liked the result of it most especially the soft silhouettes of the skyscrapers....did another frame with a lighter exposure but this one seemed to be my favorite one because of the moodiness it conveys and the somewhat feeling of quiet and desolation...pls. This collage was made entirely from magazine strips with a technique I call "painting with paper." I cut the paper into different shapes and layer them in such a way that they look almost like the brushstrokes in a painting.
If you have any questions about this piece, feel free to send me a message or leave a comment.

this sunset scene was shot from around the Burnham Harbor in Chicago...last sunday was the first time i did a brief shootaround since i twisted my ankle almost 2 months ago...i spent about an hour and a half just walking around the marina and the planetarium area with my ankle seeming to hold up nicely except with some occassional achiness but otherwise it felt good...i really like this frame as it incorporates the major skyscrapers of the city in soft silhouettes including John Hancock, Trump Tower and Willis Tower and then One Museum Place Tower pops thru clearly in the frame with the blazing sun setting behind it...hope you guys like this too...pls. This sunset came on last night at about the same time as 'The Archers', so I rushed up to the roof and was able to catch an impressive show that was however restricted to a fairly small area of the sky.
The camera caught a lot of the fine detail, recently we have been having very wispy clouds, and I think these must have been around for the Sunset. The spike in the foreground is the top of the tower of the Shepherd's Bush Road Baptist church, now sold to a Phillipino church; just after the sale it caught fire, but it seems the new owners had taken care to insure it, and after some 15 months of restoration we are approaching the end of the work.
In this view we would be looking West by South from the block where I live, this is orientated approximately East - West, so in Summer the Sun sets and rises on the North side, and on the South side in Winter. As my best view is on the South my Sunrises and Sunsets tend to be Winter events.
This photo is unedited; it was taken in a bit of a scramble and I have only a large JPG version, also it was taken with a high ISO; I think it might have been a good idea to have gone for a longer shutter and a lower ISO, but any suggestions are welcome!
this is a creative rendering of the tail end of a beautiful sunset from last Saturday using a 10 stop ND filter...it wasn't this dark when i took this shot but the 30 second exposure and the dark filter resulted in this really cool silhouette shot of the city with cool warm tones...hope everyone had a pleasant weekend...pls.
