Young couple appeared to be returning into harbour at the close of day, but minutes later they made way after purchasing a case of beer. My guess is they lived or were staying close by, as small craft are not equipped to travel safely after dark.

I took some nicer photos of her, but she liked this one. We were out on the Pacific with the Sail Maui group, enjoying a sunset cruise. Funny enough, the candy clouds coming in from the east took all the attention away from the sunset, even the crew was excited to see them.

I recently heard an interesting anecdote about the origins of the word 'posh'. It apparently stems from the marine industry, and is a mnemonic for 'port out, starboard home'. This used to be printed on tickets of passengers on P&O (Peninsula and Orient) passenger vessels that travelled between UK and India back in the day.
Britain and India are both in the northern hemisphere so the port (left-hand side) berths were mostly in the shade when travelling out (easterly) and the starboard ones when coming back. So the best and most expensive berths were 'port out, starboard home' - POSH, hence the term.

*[Ok, so we all know that it can be extremely hard to shoot directly into the sun, which usually results in an unattractive 'blown-out' sun that quite frankly is hard to look at! So many people on Flickr do this, even I do it at times, and it usually looks like crap! We really should stop posting them. - So, what I sometimes do (this photo case-in-point) is to dial exposure way down, almost to the point of darkness, to get that halfway decent sunset image. I'm not saying all of them, but one or two, and then I wait for the sunlight to change. It's pretty hard to get that sun ball drop photo that looks decent. Try this easy method and it just might help, it does for me. Thank you for looking]

I watched her as she circled the harbor, with the very intense
sunset sky magnificently changing, minute by colorful minute.
Each shot I took of her was quite different in color and light,
constantly and methodically changing. I knew that on her
last turn to Port I would have her at the perfect spot and at
the perfect time. Fun captures. Only problem: I love them all.

While In Muscat I had to take the sunset dhow cruise around the harbor area. This was not just any ordinary cruise for me and there would be surprises like this one.
I had always wanted to ride on a dhow and I knew why as the ship started to move. This updated version had a modern motor and we were indeed "sailing along" quite briskly.
And then there was the scenery. We were dodging in and out among the jagged volcanic rocks that make up the centuries old harbor and inlets of Muscat.
One could easily imagine being on a trading ship stopping at Muscat to pick up frankincense and other exotic goods. No wonder there were views of forts along the way. Muscat had to always fortify itself from invading powers and even pirates.
