A dedication to the legendary - Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
On this day, 1931 in the morning time, these brave men were hung to death..
But today many doesnt even remember their names, busy getting ready for some valentine's day.. Pathetic. :(
Rejecting the apology offered by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashish Khetan for comparing Guru Granth Sahib and other holy books with his party’s youth manifesto, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday said if anyone needed to apologise for this ‘sacrilege’, it was AAP convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In a statement here, parliamentarian and SAD secretary general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said the “blasphemy” was committed in front of Kejriwal during a recent function in Amritsar, where the AAP’s youth manifesto was released.
“Kejriwal did not protest against the blasphemy then or even later, giving a clear indication of the respect he has for the holy book of the Sikh community. Now, it is incumbent on him to seek apology from the Sikh ‘sangat’ as well as take strictest action against Khetan. This is necessary to assuage the hurt feelings of entire Sikh community,” said Dhindsa.
Claiming Khetan had displayed a “mentally sick disposition”, Dhindsa said: “There is no other explanation for the cruel manner in which he insulted Guru Granth Sahib.”
The MP said no Sikh or even a Punjabi could remain silent after this “attack” on the holy book. “But the manner in which the AAP leadership of Punjab has remained silent on this issue indicates that it has sold its soul to outsiders... How could we expect AAP leaders of Punjab to speak up against the central leadership if the party ever came to power in Punjab?” he questioned.
“This (AAP) is a party that does not respect your religion as it has insulted Guru Granth Sahib as well as the holy Gita and Bible. AAP leaders are also being investigated for being party to the desecration of the holy Quran at Malerkotla. Their earlier role in inflaming communal passions is also before the people,” alleged Dhindsa.

New Delhi - The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) moved a privilege notice against Congress members Jairam Ramesh and Renuka Chowdhury to Rajya Sabha Chairman for alleged misbehaviour with Union Minister Harsimrat Badal.
Raising the issue of an alleged spat between the Congress leaders and the Food Processing Minister after Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Friday afternoon due to ruckus over AAP MP Bhagwant Mann's controversial filming of Parliament House, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (SAD) demanded that the two should apologise for their behaviour or face privilege motion.
A minister, he said, has the right to speak in any House and the permission for the same was strictly between the Chair and minister.
Badal had sought permission of the Chair to speak on Mann's act, he said and asked: "What right do they have to obstruct". Dhindsa also alleged that the two had misbehaved with Badal outside the House.
As the Congress members including the two in question strongly contested Dhindsa's remarks, Deputy Chairman P K Kurien said a minister or a member could speak only with the permission of the Chair.
"That day, the Minister stood up requesting she be allowed to speak," he said, adding the House was in pandemonium at that time.
Kurien, who was in the Chair on Friday, said he first allowed introduction of a private member bills and "so did not allow the minister to speak."
The Minister, he said, had a valid point to make and if a discussion comes up again, she will be free to express herself.
Kurien said Chairman Hamid Ansari was seized of the matter and if he desired, the concerned parties will be called.
The alleged incident happened soon after Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Friday afternoon over ruckus created by the treasury benches on Mann's actions.
Anand Sharma (Cong) said the minister has every right to speak in either House of Parliament on a bill or a discussion.
But the issue was whether a minister, who is not a member of this House, raise an issue during zero hour, he asked.
"Can a minister who is not a member of this house have the same privileges as other members of the House" and that too "about a person who is a member of the other House," he asked.

“A Green Economy is about natural capital and the TEEB report is all about making people recognize the value of natural capital and its role in alleviating poverty, especially in places like the Heart of Borneo, a place so rich in eco-system services.”
“Many eco-system services are invisible, but they represent 10%-15% of global GDP and more importantly they represent between 50-90% of the value of poor people’s livelihoods. Thus when your countries develop their economies you cannot remove nature from them because their poorest citizens are so dependent on it.”
Mr Sukhdev noted that financing a green economy in places like the Heart of Borneo was not the major problem.
“We already subsidize the fossil fuel driven ‘brown economy’ to the tune of one trillion US dollar every year without any concern being raised – so diverting some of the money to support a new green and sustainable economy should not be a problem. I know which economy I would rather be subsidizing through my tax dollar,”’ he said.
Moreover, there are many new forms of funds being developed internationally to finance a green economy. The Heart of Borneo and its representative governments are well placed to access some of these funds.
