Underneath the Sugar Pines (with an ultrawide lens) - Batlow, NSW

Sugar Creek cuts through Turkey Run State Park. While it was for the most part a gray and cloudy day, there was about an hour or so when a touch of blue sky could be seen through the clouds, which made for better views.

These Lantana buds looks like ribbon candies and the very fine hairs look like icing. Taken at the Bendigo Botanical Gardens.

Sugar Beach on Toronto's Waterfront is an urban beach/park and one of many projects aimed at revitalizing the city's shoreline. Even though is called a beach it has no access to water.

We got our first frost a couple of days ago. First thing in the morning, I looked out the window and saw the sunlight shining on the leaf covered yard and had to go outside for a bit. I'm so glad they didn't get raked up yet :)

Stimulated by my preference for vinyl records and their cover design, I rediscovered the square.

Part of an 1870s homestead site at the Chippewa Nature Center, near Midland, Michigan, this sugarhouse is the same one seen from a distance in a shot that I posted a couple of days ago. This image is a 3-shot HDR processed in Topaz Impression for Sliders Sunday.

In 1870, farmers in Midland County produced 2,400 pounds of maple sugar. The building shown here was originally a farm home built in 1868, and was transported to this site and reconstructed as a sugarhouse. Sap boiling demonstrations are presented during maple syrup season in March, but there was nothing going on when I was there earlier this month.
