THE MUCKLEBURGH MURAL - THE HISTORY OF BRITISH TANKS

Eight of the most prominent British tanks were chosen for this mural.

The Mark IV tank was first used 100 years ago with limited success during the Battle of the Somme on 15th September 1916. The improved Mk.V, depicted in the middle of the mural, made it’s combat debut at the Battle of Hamel in July 1918 and penetrated the German lines at the Battle of Amiens in August 1918 - a foretaste of modern armoured warfare. The first tank ever had been developed in September 1915 and was known as ''Little Wille'' to mock the German Imperial Crown Prince Wilhem.

The Mark V is known as a ''Male'' because it has a 57mm 6 pounder gun in each side sponson. A ''Female'' has two .303 Lewis machine guns instead. On the roof can be seen the unditching beam which could be attached to the tracks by chains to help cross trenches and destroy barbed wire entanglements. With a top speed of just 3.7 mph, tank to tank communication was by flag signals and for longer distance by carrier pigeon released from the tank.

To it's left is the Mark 2 Matilda tank which in 1940 rose to fame in Egypt during Operation Compass against the Italians. With it's thick 3 inch armour it was impervious to Italian artillery and light anti-tank weapons. Later in North Africa against Rommel, with his powerful German 88mm flak and 50mm anti-tank guns it became vulnerable due to it's speed of 8 mph and an under strength 40mm 2 pounder gun. However, the Matilda continued to perform well in it's infantry support role, notably during the break out from Tobruk, and was the only British tank to remain in service throughout the war.

On it's left is the Churchill tank renowned for it's 5 inch front armour which could withstand repeated hits from the German Panther and Tiger tanks that carried 75mm and 88mm guns. You can see the 88mm flak gun in the Muckleborough Collection. Although still slow at 15 mph the Churchill was able to climb steep obstacles and manoeuvre across very rough terrain. The Churchill served with distinction in many conflicts during the Second World War including El Alamein, Italy and Normandy. Based upon on it's design many examples were developed, bridgelayers, anti-mine flails and flamethrowers. The Muckleburgh Collection's Churchill Mark 7 flamethrower is now under restoration.

At the far left is the Firefly tank of British design based on the American Sherman chassis. With a 76mm 17 pounder gun it proved a match for the Panther and Tiger tanks in Normandy in 1944. Insufficient Firefly's were available so only one was attached to each troop of 3-4 Sherman or Churchill tanks and played an important role in the conflict.

Turning to the far right is the Centurion Main Battle Tank, designed in 1944, which first saw service in the Korean War in 1950. Over 4,440 were made in various models and it became the most widely used tanks equipping armies around the world. It was involved in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1965, used by the Australian's in Vietnam and by Israel during the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War. With a crew of 4 it weighed 42 tons and had a frontal armour 4 inches thck. It's main gun was originally the 17 pounder, later many improvements were made the most successful being the installation of a 105mm rifled gun. An example of a Centurion Mk.5 can be seen in the Muckleburgh Collection.

Second from the right is the Chieftain Main Battle Tank which during the 1960’s and 1970's was one of the advanced tanks of it's era. It's main gun was a powerful 120mm supplemented by two 7.62mm machine guns. It weighed 54 tons and with a crew of 4 was capable of 30 mph powered by a 750 bhp diesel engine. The tanks main combat experience was during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-88 and although phased out of the British Army in 1996, is still used by a number of Middle East countries. A Chieftain Mk.5 is also on display at The Muckleburgh Collection.

To it's left is the Cromwell Tank, being inspected by Sir Winston Churchill, which saw action in 1944 during the Battle of Normandy. With a high speed of 32 mph and good maneuverability it could out flank the lager and more sluggish German tanks. It was powered by the famous Rolls Royce Meteor V12 engine which in it's Merlin aviation version was used in the Spitfire. Cromwell's first 6 pounder gun was inadequate so was improved by the use of the 17 pounder while some were equipped with a 95mm Howitzer. However, it was soon replaced by the better armoured Comet that saw service in the closing months of the Second World War and later in the Korean War. An example of a Comet can be seen in The Muckleburgh Collection.

Finally, back in the centre is the current British Main Battle Tank, the Challenger Mk.2, famous for it's revolutionary Chobham/Dorchester armour (a matrix of ceramic tiles) and hydro-gas suspension. It's earlier Mark saw action during the first Gulf War in 1991 and the much upgraded Mk.2 took a major role in the second Gulf War against Iraq in 2003 and later in Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo. In 2003 it destroyed 300 Iraq tanks without loss and had the distinction of destroying a tank at a distance of over 3 miles. It has a 120mm rifled gun in addition to a coaxial 7.62mm chain gun. It's crew of 4 is protected against nuclear, biological and chemical attack and with a 1,200 bhp diesel engine, the tank has a top speed of 35 mph.

THE MUCKLEBURGH MURAL- THE HISTORY OF BRITISH TANKS was painted by Eddie Goodrich in 2012. Using acrylic and oil paints, it took 313 hours to complete and measures 40ft x 11ft. The emphasis of the Mural is on the tanks themselves, with the surrounding scenery being a vignette to give an impression of it's era. Eddie served fifteen years with the 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment , a short period of his military career being spent in the Anti-Tank Platoon and he now lives in Norfolk.

Programme de The Transat bakerly à Saint-Malo

JROTC Camp Success 2014 : More than 400 Junior ROTC cadets from high schools in Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington D.C. recently completed Camp Success 2014, at U.S. Army Garrison Fort A.P. Hill.

Camp Success is a six-day camp that builds confidence and leadership skills in the students. The camp includes the confidence course--the same course that Soldiers use--a series of obstacles that requires strength, dexterity and a bit of courage to overcome.

Other team building exercises such as such as rappelling, rope bridge, survival, water survival, first aid, land navigation, team sports, leadership reaction course, effective speaking and leadership classes broadened their horizons and instilled them with confidence.

Scholarship America's celebration of the best in student success programs was held May 24, 2017 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. Special guests included Senator Bob Dole; honorees included the Mike Rowe Works Foundation, Wells Fargo and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Voya was the presenting sponsor.

"Success is speaking words of praise

In cheering other peoples ways

In doing just the best you can

With every task and every plan.

It's silence when your speech would hurt.

Politeness when your neighbor's curt.

It's deafness when the scandal flows

and sympathy with other's woes

It's loyalty when duty calls

It's courage when disaster falls

It's politeness when the hours are long

It's found in laughter and in song.

It's in the silent time of prayer

In happiness and in despair

In all of life and nothing less

We find the thing we call success."

Success of the LA Conservation Corps’ Paddle the LA River program is well documented. One of the program tenets is access to the river. To answer that call, program partner the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority developed ‘River Access for All,’ which offers kayak outings on rafts that can accommodate challenged children and adults and those with limited mobility.

“We wanted the boating experience to not be limited to a select group of people who can pay to paddle the Los Angeles River so we also required groups to submit a plan on community involvement and outreach,” said Lisa Sandoval, District realty specialist.

The program was booked solid as soon as it was announced and openings are rare, but with little more than a week before the final trip of the season, MRCA had a vacancy. After consulting with another program partner, Friends of the LA River, a call was made to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District.

“When the call came in from FoLAR that space was suddenly available in the MRCA program, one group came to mind,” said Jennie Ayala District outreach Coordinator and STEM program manager. “I remembered the passion of Tova and Sterling Barbour of the Veterans Advocacy Group of America. They’d contacted me for USACE support on an educational program they offer to veterans’ children.”

VAGA also reached out through veteran channels and in keeping with tradition, were able to fully book the opportunity for a group of veterans.

“One thing that we like to do is to give back, to see our veterans out here; the smile on their faces just means so much,” said Sterling. “Next year we are definitely going to do this again for our veterans, because it is so wonderful.”

These veterans were fairly ambulatory, although many still showed physical signs of their injuries, making them perfect candidates for the new program.

“With our inflatable rafts we’re able to accommodate various disabilities, we’ve had a variety of organizations come out,” said Fernando Gomez, Chief Ranger of the MRCA. “Today, VAGA was able to participate; one individual was blind and we had our first service dog. Because the KaBoat platform is so stable and if they aren’t able to paddle, they can leave it to the rangers.”

As a fully committed partner to the city’s Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan, the District’s own work on river ecosystem restoration plans to restore natural habitat where appropriate, improve water quality and enhance recreational benefits, all while maintaining its primary mission of flood damage reduction.

Adam was born to a multi-talented beauty queen Mother and a Father who, in addition to being a US Army Spy and a Counter-Intelligence Special Agent, was also a highly accomplished entrepreneur. Adam was taught at a young age that, in both life and business, loyalty is a requirement for success. He’s had the honor of working directly with his father in several of the family businesses. In fact, this is where he learned crucial entrepreneurial skills and honed his talents with international business strategies and venture capitalism.

Adam earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of Utah. He was hand-picked by the President of the University’s renowned School of Business to compete with dozens of other ambitious nationwide-graduates for the opportunity to secure a lucrative job within a prestigious Fortune 100 company.

Adam‘s hard work and creativity helped him land this job of a lifetime. He obtained incredible business experience there and spent years innovating, improving processes and setting sales records. Although this dream job in Traditional Corporate America was a fun challenge for him, and something he truly enjoyed mastering, Adam’s natural entrepreneurial spirit kept nudging him to do something more significant with his time and talents.

Since 2001, Adam has been involved in the Health and Wellness Industry as a successful Entrepreneur, Broker, Product Developer and Manufacturer of Cosmeceutical products. During his career, he has worked with some of the most recognizable Fortune 500 businesses along with many top international Network Marketing companies. Adam has consistently proven his unique ability to help his clients achieve their goals through creative Distribution-Channel Placement, innovative Product Development and custom Manufacturing. Adam currently owns three profitable businesses.

Admittedly, Adam was not initially a fan of Network Marketing. He did not understand the business model because it was new to him. However, once he learned that the REAL focus of Direct Sales is to help average people get a taste of entrepreneurialism --- with minimal risk and at a low cost --- Adam was absolutely convinced of the potential with Multi-Level Marketing.

Since joining the company as one of the original 11 founding distributors, Adam has discovered that many of his life-goals truly do align perfectly with Network Marketing. Adam enjoys helping others find significance. Adam is most grateful for the complete time-freedom he has with his fantastic wife and five children. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Adam Paul Green, MXI Corp Ambassador and Multi-Millionaire Earner.

Ferguslie Parks, Pals of the Privies Foam Party in Glen Coats park was great success for all involved on Sunday July 18th 2021. With giant inflatable’s, a huge wet soapy slide, Clyde ones George Bowie dj ing the event and the star of the show, the foam machine its self. This was a cracking day for parents and kids alike and it was mobbed.

One person told me when he bragged to his work mates about all the events the Ferguslie community groups have staged over the years. Only for their jaws to drop when it was pointed out, it was all free.

All this due to the hard work of the many groups who caught the eyes of so many local business and whose donations made it possible for locals to come together and build community spirit to makes it a safer places to live for all.
