Per Gessle (Gyllene tider) - Jag går och fiskar
Swedish and Spanish subtitle. English translation below.
Per Gessle (and Marie Fredriksson) was the group "Roxette" in the 90´s. He is a hit maker and music icon since the late 70´s.
Translation:
Nothing is as it should be,
the same day by day
Everything follows the same pattern,
looking at the city from my window
People in a row in a queue
Eat, work, sleep, die
I'm going fishing
And take a quiet minute
Going out, out and fishing
A chance to breathe in,
breathe out
When reading philosophers,
looking between old strobes
Do you think it was different,
16 17 18 hundred
Not so, my heart stings same thing in all times
I'm going fishing
And take a quiet minute
Going out, out and fishing
My chance of breathing in,
breathing out
Exhale
Ohh
Nothing is as it should be,
the same day by day
Everyone sells the same services,
people to the right, to the left
I can only sow one seed,
give an advice: take your rod
Let's go fishing
And take a quiet minute
Let's fish, fishing fishes
Your chance of breathing out
I'm going fishing
And take a quiet minute
Going out, out and fishing
A chance to breathe in,
breath out
I'm going fishing
Going and fishing
I go, I go, I go fishing

Moment at Strawberry Lake:
I have made no effort to reproduce the actual scene that is entirely beautiful in its official, country green.
So I have subtitled it, "The Art of Letting Go" as I re-consider how things are and how they could be, over the top, fantasy, you tell me :)
Victoria Street in Old Town Edinburgh is probably one of the most photographed locations in the city. It definitely has the old-world charm with its cobblestone street, gentle curve, and colorful storefronts. A subtitle for this photo could be, "Just Another Rainy Day in Edinburgh."
I knew this song for the first time because it was sung by Robert Palmer. Many singers sang this song, originally released by Marvin Gaye in 1971.
First, I loved the very gentle melody, but when I understood the lyrics, I knew it has been sung about the environmental issue. And I learned that the subtitle was "The Ecology".
Also, The lyrics "Ah things ain't what they used to be, no, no" are linked what people in the world is feeling right now, isn't it?
As an image of this song that sang about environmental issues, I took a polar bear in the iceberg that melts due to global warming.
This polar bear is 1 cm long on a pen cap decoration. I used freezer frost as the snow.
I could subtitle this shot, "An elegy after Giorgio de Chirico".
In this photograph I tried to create the somewhat nostalgic and claustrophobic feel of many of de Chirico's early surrealistic paintings. The old water tower and purification plant stands against the sky which represents a lost past (or is it the future?). On the right hand side the wall of the newer factory building (which is also about to be demolished) is leaning in and creating that claustrophobic sense I was looking for.

Or: The Beauty and the Beast

For #sliderssunday
I've realised that I haven't uploaded an autumn photo this year, yet, and of course, that won't do ;) So here you go: golden October glory at the Rudolph-Wilde-Park, a public park in the Berlin borough of Schöneberg. The park, which was conceived in 1906, and which is named after the first mayor of Schöneberg (before Schöneberg became a part of Berlin in 1920), Rudolph Wilde, is a 6,6 sq green oasis amidst one of the most densely built-up areas of Berlin. Most conveniently, the park is only a 15-20 minute walk away from where I live.
You may wonder why I subtitled this image The Beauty and the Beast. Well, on that walk, and also when I processed the photos I'd taken on that walk, I thought that in this place you can find both what is so beautiful and also ugly or aggravating about my hometown. The park itself is very lovely, there is a huge playground, there is the small lake (which you can see here) in front of the historic subway station, there are lots of bunnies (yes!), but there are also trash and graffiti. Not that I generally dislike graffiti, but for me, it's kind of a double-edged sword. In Berlin, you can find marvellous, artfully done graffiti and street art which I really like, but there also is the aggressive tagging, and I usually don't like that at all, especially when it's done on carefully restored historic buildings such as the Carl-Zuckmayer-Brücke of which you can see a small part in the lower left corner of this photo. The bridge is part of the heritage-protected underground station "Rathaus Schöneberg".
The image is an HDR made from exposure bracketing (three photos) which I've combined in HDR Efex. Since I'd photographed directly against the sun (I almost couldn't see a thing on the display), there are a few blown-out parts on the left which even the exposure bracketing couldn't prevent. I tried to fix it in LR, and I think it doesn't look too bad because it's just the upper left corner. I hope you like it anyways ;)
Have a nice weekend, dear Flickr friends!

Moment at Ponto Cabana:
Created for the "Award Tree" Group's challenge, "Red & White Fudge".
It's great to be challenged to step outside of one's usual palette and take on one that's so restricted ( red & white ). Limitations like that are some of the greatest spurs to creativity as one is forced to work inventively without resort to a lot of the usual options. So it was great to take a day and dig in to produce a set of 5 images to fit the "Award Tree" challenge theme.
This and the four following "red & white" images all work with black as the "magic third". It seemed impossible for me to create anything of much interest using just red and white. And sometimes my reds verge on oranges due to their being made so transparent that they lost most of their saturation. Or, in some cases they were mixed so far into the black that they became almost browns. So, in the end, a very wide range of reds were used.
The title for the image is the subtitle to David Sylvian & Ryuichi Sakamoto's song, "Heartbeat ( Tainai Kaiki II ). Music Link below. The video is extraordinary.

This little book was printed 1882. Beautifully bound and with gilded page edges. Titled “Happy Homes and How to make them”with subtitle “Love, Courtship, and Marriage”. A relative gave it to my wife before we married – hopefully with a little tongue in cheek humour.
There are chapters on ‘popping the question’, 'advice to a young man seeking a wife’, duties of married life, 'confide in each other', 'do not expect too much'.. ..and more.
It’s a mirror of Victorian Age mores. One review says “This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.” - Gosh, what more could be added! Anyway, it has a special place on our bookshelves.
For Macro Mondays, "Book" - 42 layer focus stack, FOV at gilded page edges 2.6 inches.

Photo of a partly repainted outside wall seen on a London residential estate.
If you squint, this maybe has the feel of an abstract expressionist painting that perhaps would be subtitled 'Mark Rothko meets Clyfford Still'. Maybe.
Taken a year earlier than the previous photo and on a D500 which has a crop sensor so an M42 adapter used that was one of the deep ones so as to avoid mirror slap The info provided in the exif of course doesn't say which lens but gives 00-00 re aperture ect but the non CPU info says it is a taken with a 50mm 1.8 lens so this was taken with either the CZ Pancolar or the Pentacon mm... My folder subtitle just says Crocus and a fat lot of good that is. It is a vintage lens on a crop sensor camera and someone may recognise the characteristics. Incidentally this was taken a day short of 3 weeks later in the year than the previous shot so maybe a harsher longer winter in 2018 than 2019 and this year the Crocus in this particular park are late flowering. The previous shower did give some different bokeh highlights too..
A year ago, I confessed to someone that I have a love of good cover versions of songs, and they gave me a list of twenty song covers they thought I would enjoy. Back in September of last year, I looked at that list again, and thought, wouldn't it be fun to make a picture for every song on that list?
Song number 19 on the playlist is Reach Out I'll Be There, as covered by Jonathan Wilson.
When I thought about how to express this song as a picture, I read through its lyrics. The song is about reaching out to someone who is feeling like they are sad and hopeless and can't go on, to help them, and that reminded me of that movie scene that traumatised so many of our childhoods, the one from The NeverEnding Story where Atreyu's wonderful white horse, Artax, is killed by his despair causing him to sink into the murky depths of The Swamp of Sadness. Atreyu was trying to pull Artax out of his misery and motivate him, but failed, because, as sometimes happens (including to people), the sadness was simply too great for Artax to overcome. In my mind, I began to picture a similar situation with a less traumatic outcome, where reaching out to Artax actually worked, and friendship and love did win out over despair.
And thus, the concept for this photo was born.

I wanted to try something new that I hadn't done before, photograph with a person in the environment and try to find a mood. My little "project" was put aside, but now I want to try to put it into practice again. It is difficult to find the right subtitle for the images, and I welcome feedback.
Subtitle is "A Portrait of Lady Macbeth"
Before I had even heard of the Pryce Macabre Halloween challenge I had already started thinking about doing a Lady Macbeth portrait. Her steely ruthlessness and ambition set off the regicide and bloodletting of the play. It also drove her husband to his death and herself to madness and suicide. It was too juicy not to turn into a pic for this challenge.
I folded the hands to suggest the beginning of the obsessive hand rubbing (Out, damned spot!). The right side of the face reflects her inner dissolution. I was originally going to use facial expression and shadow to suggest the onset of madness but the challenge just bumped me in a more extreme direction. Okay, maybe I got a little too into this.
The French Hood is from Junbug as is the gown, which was a Fifty Linden Friday item. I shot this in one of the Game of Thrones sets at Backdrop Cove.

I've always loved getting lost in Venice, going around, just by chance, while observing you discover new wonders, beautiful but also with amazement. Having time and not a goal, but above all do it by yourself.
I have tried several times this "get lost" and every time is different, I discover corners, wonders and things that always amaze me different, never the same.

This image came to life after being inspired by Faisal's upload yesterday. And then there are some of you out there doing so much adventurous stuff (you know who you are...!) so I decided to go wild with photoshop again, it's been a while.
The original can be seen in the comments field. You'll see there are birds on the island and this scene definitely could have happened in real life (if you were really, really lucky :-)) But I guess it might deserve a subtitle... "The Escape (from reality)".
