I shot this during a short visit to China Town in San Francisco a couple of years ago. It really pays off to "look behind you", and/or "look up" because there are usually fun things to capture when you do.

Today's prompt was to take a photo of our view from outside with blurred elements in both the foreground and the background and focus on something in the middle.
We are those people who still have their Christmas lights up (yes, I promise they won't still be up in July) so I decided to play around with them. A string in front is blurred as well as the strings in the back and the neighborhood background.
I love how powerful the correct aperture can make a photo.

The bright front lighting brings the figure fully into view, while the party behind her recedes into darkness and suggestion.
What I like most here is the tension between radiance and restraint: the lifted arms, the calm expression, the softly patterned dress, and the glow of a few distant lights that never compete with the subject.
The scene remains social, but only in the background.
She is the clear focal point — illuminated, self-contained, and quietly confident against the dark evening setting.

At night, the Ferry Building stops being a transit hub and becomes a lantern.
Completed in 1898, this Beaux-Arts landmark anchors the Embarcadero with a clock tower inspired by the Giralda in Seville. The illuminated numerals, the glowing clock face, and the disciplined symmetry of the façade create one of the most recognizable silhouettes on the West Coast. Seen from the crosswalk at the foot of Market Street, the building feels ceremonial — civic, maritime, enduring.
What’s easy to miss during the day becomes evident at night: the rhythm of the arches, the proportional restraint, the way the tower resolves tier by tier into the dark sky. This is San Francisco before tech campuses and glass curtain walls — stone, light, and public space.
If you study this façade, notice how it converses with the Transamerica Pyramid further up Market. That pairing appears elsewhere in this collection.

First time shooting such low light in a studio. Couldn't use any flash light due to space and power limitations. Pretty decent first attempt that I'm happy with.
