The Darter's slender body, long, snake-like neck and its pointed, rather than hooked, bill distinguishes it readily from the bulkier cormorants with which it is often found.

He left his peaceful country and enjoyed a wonderful trip with many interesting places to see, new people to meet and lots of great experience. But there is no place like home... Coming back home he found a war zone there. This airport is ruined right now... just like the hearts and dreams of people living in this country.

Crazy Tuesday: In the middle
Such a dreary, rainy day today. I wanted to use the rain to my advantage for this photo idea and have the heart in between the two raindrops (representing the tears shed for the people of Ukraine) but when I clipped it to the branch, the big drops fell. No problem, the heart is still in the middle of the frame so hopefully this image still works for the theme. My heart hurts for those involved with the conflicts going on in this world and I am struggling to understand how people can inflict pain on other human beings. It is truly heartbreaking. 💔
Most of the bay was still covered by ice, so all the birds had to fit in the small ice-free area.

I captured this image of a soybean field last fall in Knox County. I used the Skylum Luminar Neo software program to edit and filter the golden brown soybeans to yellow and deepen the blue of the sky. The Skylum company and team is based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Many on their team have remained in Ukraine and are working and sheltering. We have chosen to support Ukraine through Save the Children.

Cling to peace for peace is supreme
peace is existence
peace is humanity's allotment.
Sway with compassion
sway with respect for human lives
for, war yields unworthy disharmony and devastation
war wields hatred and hostilities,
war destroys world peace and unity.
Retract the steps of vengeance
retract the arms of pursuits and plunder
for, human life is more precious than a diamond
if a diamond is lost, you can find another
but if one human life is lost, it is lost forever.
Give back the right of existence to people
give back the serenity that belongs to a nation
for, when every hour a bomb explodes
and a gun shot fired, a life gets lost
an apartment or a house gets damaged or demolished
it makes families homeless or makes them flee in fear
when the country, the patriotism, the land, the water
the vivacity belongs of that nation belongs to them.
So stop the war and cling to peace
sway with compassion and let survival prevail
retract from the war and respect safety of people
give back to your nations the peace they deserve.
