this little guy landed on the blanket of the people in front of us. according to google it's a common buckeye. I don't usually see more than monarchs so I had to snap a quick picture, it was so pretty!
Tens of thousands, or perhaps more, flocked to Washington today to witness the highly-anticipated “Rally To Restore Sanity.” Many brought signs, some wore costumes, and thanks to sunny weather and an atmosphere filled with energy, most probably had a good time.
Stephen Colbert is a partisan right-wing pundit only in so far as he employs the same signature moves, truth is he's doing it for laughs. Stephen is the star of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, a Daily Show spin-off that parodies the bluster of personality driven cable news shows.
An obvious inspiration for the show is Bill O'Reilly who Colbert affectionately calls "Papa Bear". O'Reilly in turn considers the Colbert character a compliment, appreciating Stephen for not being mean-spirited. Stephen Colbert has featured many high profile guests spanning the political spectrum including APF Pundits Hugh Hewitt and Joe Scarborough.

Sadly, this is as close as I got to attending The Colbert Report. Even though we had tickets, and waited in line for quite some time, the show was filled up before they got to us. Apparently, it's standard practice to overbook the show. As a consolation prize, we're on the VIP list for March or April.

Near the beginning of the taping of The Colbert Report, he mentioned that Goodyear had seen the crowd for the previous day's taping and wanted to do a flyover to capture some aerial shots.
Everyone expected a blimp, and so people were looking around confused and asking where it was. Colbert goes "Where is it? In the sky you idiots!" (nicely) and we eventually figured out it was this small plane :).
