Macro Monday - Ribbon
This is a vintage wooden spool with rustic style ribbon against one of my favourite backdrops of the moment.
I tried out one of the Omni filters with my macro lens and quite like the swirl effect it gave. HMM
Gloria thought it was time she made an appearance.
I've been trying to decide on a theme for the 100 x challenge this year...if indeed I do it. I wondered about self portraits including (or possibly mainly) Gloria but don't think I will manage 100. Another option is Lensbaby shots or maybe half portraits and half Lensbaby. Need to give it plenty of thought before committing to it. I very nearly signed up to the 365 in the hope it would encourage my mojo to return but common sense prevailed.

It may seem odd to say we were looking for trees in the forest but that's exactly what we did today. It was a gorgeous winter morning - cold, with intermittent sun, and a fresh snowfall. A perfect day to get outside and capture a scene with an eye to a new (to us) editing technique in Photoshop.
Even better - it's local, so we could be here within the confines of the current lockdown.

It's been a while...just hoping everyone else is hanging on, getting through this the best they can. All is still well here, as best as it could be I suppose...no sickness yet (knock on wood) and lucky to have a job that allows my wife and I to work at home. Working at home is certainly getting old, but I expect it to continue for months to come I'm afraid, as I enjoy the camaraderie of an office environment. Anyway, desperate times call for desperate measures... :-) pulling out the macro lens and looking for subjects in the backyard. This little guy seemed poignant for the times were in... Have a great (and safe) upcoming week!
Filling up the sink again,
wishing I could be with a friend.
Staying home is such a bore,
time again for another chore.
Soapy, finds me standing in place
and puts a smile on my face.
Sometime soon we will all be free,
I will see you and you will see me.
Until then Soapy is my Friend.

"Just for some fun"
I was struggling to get some inspiration on what to photograph today.
Then there it was, sat right in front of me on my desk.
Baby Groot, this took a bit of time to set up and to get a shot that I fairly happy with.
I found a Guardians of the Galaxy II background, opened that on the laptop, I had to darken the room, placed Baby Groot onto a sheet of A3 Acrylic in front of the laptop, attached the camera onto my tripod with a remote release, also used a LED light with an orange filter to some warmth to Groot.

An elderly man prays in a temple in Kathmandu. The second wave of COVID pandemic has hit Nepal hard in last few weeks. The country experiences daily spike in the death rate and the infection rates.

My new normal, like so many of us working from home, is squeezing my "home office" into some place, any place, that will do.
The company where I work decided to go ahead and close our office since we are all working from home now. They have been looking for a new building for us to move to for some time - so this seems to be the best solution until they finally do find something suitable.
SO, in the meantime my work space is now crammed into a corner of my computer room in the basement. My desk is now a card table. One rolly bin contains the most needed items used daily. Boxes of manuals and other work-related items are still upstairs. I think my work chair is making friends with my regular chair.

My two loved ones on the rooftop. The sky and environment was magical after an hour of rain. I tried to frame the surrounding, wonderful sky and a reflection :)
