It’s Throwback Thursday all and I am sharing with you some artwork that was drawn several years ago. You might recognize him but this is Darien (Mamoru Chiba) from Sailor Moon (Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon). I used to collect the Sailor Moon trading cards (anyone else out there still have theirs?) and one day I decided to try and draw him. I was so happy after it was completed that I taped it on my bedroom wall. Today I look back at some of my personal successes as well as some goals I am holding myself accountable for to work on.
As an artist, there are several things we do too often:
We compare our art to others
We are too hard on ourselves for the progress we have made.
We focus too hard on a mistake we made in our art
We value the public opinion and acceptance of our work instead of our own
I have become an avid follower of the series “Art With Flo” in which Flo gives you tutorials on how to improve your digital art. She also encourages you to be tenacious while you are on your personal art journey. Have any of you ever seen her work?

How is everyone enjoying their November so far?
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away and everyday, I am giving thanks to my family, friends, and the talents I have been given in life. I hope to share more with you the closer we get to the holidays.
What types of food are you looking forward to making or being made?
Today, I share with you my Day 17 installment of Inktober from Jake Parker’s prompt list.
I tried combining a few things in one to make this really cool. I took what I learned from drawing the bows on Sailor Moon and the other Sailor Scouts’ uniforms, how I used to style drawing Luna, and combined it into an ornament that I would love to make out of clay for my Christmas tree this year.
What color would you suggest the big cat should be? What about the kitten or baby mouse (could really pass as either one)?

When you were younger, what was your favorite show to watch?
As a child, I was obsessed with Sailor Moon and it was one of the first shows I became an Otaku over. It was definitely not the last but it will always be held dear in my heart.
Yesterday, I made a post about personal growth and seeing the steps an artist needs to take in order to personally evaluate how much they have learned and grown along their art journey (You can find it here). To join on the bandwagon of the #SailorMoonRedraw kick, I decided to redraw a Darien drawing I made several years ago.
I am satisfied with my growth and I know my learning is far from over.
P.S.: Neither is yours so remember to never stop learning and trying new things.

It’s Thursday and you know what time it is = #TheVault
I had a group of friends that were fans of Sailor Moon growing up and we all would discuss the show and characters in class, at lunch or recess. Each person nominated themselves as a respective Sailor Scout and we would create our own fan-fiction out of mixing in our daily life events and ideas we had about the show. I always liked making my voice sound like the actual voice actor for my character.
I reflect on why I chose my favorite character as well as smile at how silly some of the ideas were that came out of these little meetings.

@Ibu_Chuan hosted a DrawThisInYourStyle challenge last month over on Instagram and had the public do their take on this wonderful original character.
I got a chance to view a lot of the entries for this challenge and I gotta say I was quite impressed. They all ranged from different styles, and different takes on how to position this girl, using a full range of media. I even got a chance to see other people who also placed her in a teacup which was quite amazing. Swing on by the tag #DTIYS_Ibu to see the +2k masterpieces that helped create yet another successful DTIYS chapter. Welcome back everyone!
Day 15 from Jake Parker’s Inktober prompt was Legend. Now my idea behind it came from thinking of the word “Legendary” originally. I thought of the movie Legend and I Am Legend and couldn’t think of anything. The more I stared at ‘Legendary” the more I wanted to do something based on the word ‘legendary’.
Finally, it snapped and I wanted to draw a leg and something reminiscent of dairy. A little cheesy, I know but in the end I came up with this.
Everyone I’ve shown has shaken their heads and I just laugh. I think the foot and everything came out pretty well without a reference (minus the cow – I had to look up what their heads looked like).

Twitch updates: We were playing Gears 5 last night and decided to try out the Insane Difficulty on Horde Mode.
In order to unlock ‘Insane’ mode and other challenges, you have to complete the easier modes that are open by default.
Now, it took us this long to unlock it due to all of the technical difficulties that have been plaguing this game since its Xbox pre-release to Ultimate Game Pass holders on September 6th. You can see some of the issues I am talking about just by scrubbing through this video to get an idea. A video summary of how we felt about the first day’s launch of the game had to be made due to all of the disappointment.
I do have to say, the added buffs for the enemies were a huge step but it seriously added to the experience of Horde Mode. They had increased health, more powerful attacks, and we were now required to execute the enemies in order for the waves to continue; thus we had to be way more strategic.
It’s a default I get very vocal in response to increased madness in games and I wanted to share with you what had happened once we got to Wave 10 – the boss wave. We were greeted by the Matriarch berserker, which is my friend’s most hated boss, which also added to the insanity.

We are two post away from wrapping up the Inktober entries I had for last month. Today, I am sharing with you my post for ‘Ghost’.
Day 22 was inspired after listening to a song by Matt Fine, called “Ghosts”. I originally heard this song watching a video by Twisted describing Halloween food recipes and it made its way into my head as I was drawing a ghost. I kept it simple and had a lot of fun, too.

This one was challenging since I have never drawn a dragon before, so I didn’t know how the finished product would turn out. After looking at some variants of dragons, I chose mine to look a little like this.
