♫ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Main Theme | VioDance Violin Cover ♫
Captain's log, stardate 6102.1. While investigating a distress call from a star cluster in the Protari system our ship, the U.S.S. Constitution and its crew, were pulled into a mysterious tractor beam. All data shows that we've somehow been transported to another dimension.
Myself, Captain Jezebel Kraai along with Science Officer Cidni Starchild, Chief Engineer Harper Blackwood, and Lieutenant Moran have set foot on what appears to be a post apocalyptic world. The surface appears to be like our own Earth and so far we're reading no life forms.
Could this be Earth and could we have somehow traveled back in time? Is this the year 2231, just after the first nuclear strikes of World War III? I will update when we have more data. Kraai out.
I appreciate these wonderful ladies and fellow artist for helping me out on this one. It's been a long time coming as this shot was actually taken this past May.
I was sort of baffled about what I wanted to do with this capture then decided to do a fantasy composite with it. So this is my first try at this sort of thing. I hope you guys find it at least adequate. Thanks!♥

I started with one of my favorite recent photos and quickly, in one-half hour, I had this imaginary world low in my planet Earth's Tucson southeastern sky
Yes, quite literally!
I found this oddity, as well as other creative creations, while bicycling the East Bay Bike Path in Barrington, Rhode Island. It was hanging by wires, (which I removed in Photoshop), and I brightened the area behind it, to give it more dynamics.

Spock and Mini Spock give it two Vulcan Salutes (the equivalent of two thumbs up for you Terrans!)!
This is not your momma's Star Trek! But that is a good thing! Never before has Star Trek provided so many nail biting, edge of your seat moments! It is much hipper and somewhat more believeable than the typical Trek of old, and has a much more frenetic pace. However, the filmmakers never lose track of what made the original Trek work so well - the characters!
The characterizations here are all very faithful and strong. All of the main characters get their moment(s) in the spotlight.
Not only is this movie much more action packed and exciting than ye olde Trek, it's a lot funnier too, with lots of great character driven humor. McCoy and Scotty in particular are hilarious and the actors playing them deserve special reckognition for so sucessfully capturing the essence of these characters. Of course, it's all about Kirk and Spock and here again, both actors do an excellent job with these Sci Fi icons. Chris Pine in particular does a great job of giving us a Kirk who still seems like Kirk without doing a cheesy Shatner impersonation. He owns the character and makes it his own, as does Zachary Quinto as Spock. Eric Bana's villian, Nero is quite excellent, I only wish we had seen a bit more of him. Leonard Nimoy's appearances in the film are all fantastic and serve the purpose of passing the torch quite well. You'll want to cheer when he first shows up!
Continuity hounds should not allow themselves to be thrown or discouraged by events that seem at odds with established Trek lore, if you hang in there, all will be explained, just sit back and enjoy the ride.There are a few minor things that seem like plot holes to me, but they didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the movie and I don't think most people will notice them, they'll be too busy having a good time!
The designs of everything in the film harkens back to what made the original series so cool, but succesfully purges them of their dated, somewhat silly elements.
This is hardly the best film ever made, but it is a great tribute to a Sci Fi classic which constantly entertains and leaves you begging for more. It is the best reboot/reimagining of something I've ever seen. It's one hell of an origin story for this legendary crew, but it is nothing less than what such classic characters deserve.
if this movie doesn't re-energize the Trek franchise, then frankly NOTHING ever will. In fact I suspect it will re-energine the entire sci-fi space opera genre in general.
May the new Trek franchise Live Long and Prosper!

The new movie figures are pretty cool. They're slightly shorter and much skinnier than a lot of other figures that are supposedly in the same scale. They remind me a lot of the Mego 3.75 figures for Star Trek the Motion Picture, or the Galoob Next Generation figures, only with better articulation and sculpting.
The only thing I dislike about the articulation is that the range of motion is limited at the elbows, and the hip articulation is pretty bad, being in the star wars style that doesn't allow them to spead their legs.
wow, that last sentence seems really wrong somehow!

One of my favourite starships. When it first appeared in Star Trek III it was depicted as thuggish and clunky, and it was only in subsequent appearances we got a good look at the design and discovered it was actually graceful and elegant.
The fantastic Deep Space Nine station from Star Trek as a model from BlueBrixx. A little bit tricky to be built, but at the end a great set which will find a place in my space area :-)
Perhaps the best illustration of the power of analogy in Trek is “Darmok,” the Next Generation episode in which Picard must learn to communicate with a captain whose culture expresses itself entirely in metaphors. Without a common culture to serve as context for what he says, Picard has no idea where to start. “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra”? “Darmok and Jalad on the ocean”?! Thankfully Picard and the other captain, Dathon, end up sharing experiences with each other, building a common framework, and ultimately coming to an understanding. Like Picard and Dathon, Darmok and Jalad are two characters brought together through a mutual challenge.
To this day the words “Darmok and Jalad” bring a warm feeling to the heart of Trekkies because we remember how Dathon dies to teach Picard this lesson. And on a more meta level, we Trekkies were brought together by experiencing them experiencing the lesson.
It's a misfortune to wear a red-shirt when beaming down to an unknown planet.

Kirk and Spock beam down to the planet where Sulu's shuttle went down. Sensors aren't showing his location, so the odds are someone, or something, is involved!
Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek original series and I wanted to get a photo up in honor. Lost this photo I took in Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs a couple of years ago, but searched the archives and found it! Newer film figures, but I pretty much think of them as "original" Kirk & Spock.
