Cosmeston Lakes, Penarth, South Wales...

My friends: I am way behind with my comments, but I will catch up in the next couple of days. This is one of the last I will post from my visit to the pet shop. I bought an adorable Chihuahua to give to my mother on Mothers Day and developed severe allergies from being close to the animals. My eyes have been very irritated and very swollen since last Saturday, and I am taking medications. It was fun to photograph the different animals, including this red-eye frog, but I will never, ever, do that again!!!

Vatten in!

A rather intense Joe Zawinul, keyboard player & leader of the incredible jazz group, “Weather Report”, playing his fantastic composition, “Birdland”, at the Hollywood Bowl. To say it was well received would be a vast understatement. It brought the house down.

...at St Fagan's. Taken during a recent "WelshFlickrCymru" photo shoot....

St Fagans opened on 1 July 1948. Today, it is one of Europe's foremost open–air museums and Wales's most popular heritage attraction. It stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth. During the last fifty years, over forty original buildings from different historical periods have been re-erected in the 100-acre parkland.

One of many garden snails, loving the wet weather we have had recently.

Watson Island, Miami, FL

I took this shot last night at 2:00 AM on my way home from work despite warnings abot dodgy characters hanging out under the bridge. Dodgy they were indeed... anyway, I just "had to do it" - MrClean1982 will know why ;-)

Having fun with Orton effect...second try.

Now some history...

Cardiff Castle is an unusual blend of Roman fort, medieval castle and fanciful Victorian gothic mansion.

The Romans established a fort on the site in the 1st century AD, but the square 8 acre fort that remains today was built in the 4th century. When the Normans built their castle in the late 11th century what remained of the Roman walls was buried under earth ramparts. The walls were revealed during excavations in 1889, and were rebuilt on the original foundations - clearly visible in places - between 1922 and 1925.

LIVING in the shadow of Wiltshire's more famous stone formation has not done Avebury any harm over the years. While tourists flock to Stonehenge all year round to gaze at the stones, magical Avebury has a heart and soul only a village community can offer.

Set in the middle of the world's biggest ancient stone circle and since 1943 exclusively owned by the National Trust, Avebury is a lot bigger than Stonehenge and a place where one can spend the whole day and want to come back for more.

Above: Kennixton Farmhouse, Gower. Originally built in 1610; re-erected at the museum in 1955.

This early 17th century farmhouse was located at Llangynydd on the Gower Peninsula, Glamorgan. The red colour of the walls was thought to protect the house against evil spirits. The house was extended circa 1680 and again around 1750.
