Photo No. 6 of Study No 4 for 2023, Black and White photos. Because of the very strong winds this winter many trees or branches have fallen this season. I lost a cedar in my own backyard. Even sadder than climate change, I feel it's people's refusal to believe it is happening.
I had to sit down for this one and I was wishing that more gardeners would use raised bed gardens ... )0: This poppy was spotted on a recent neighbourhood walk.

The Dent de Jaman is a mountain (1875 m) above Montreux, situated north of the Rochers de Naye.
La dent de Jaman est un sommet des préalpes vaudoises situé à 1 875 mètres d'altitudes, dans le canton de Vaud, en Suisse.
Ses contours sont atypiques dans cette région préalpine. La forme générale de la dent de Jaman, de par ses falaises abruptes sur son versant occidental, présente l'aspect d'une canine géante vue depuis le lac Léman. Un sentier assez exposé permet d'atteindre relativement facilement son sommet par le versant oriental. Des groupes de chamois peuplent ses coteaux.
Une crête part de la dent de Jaman, passe par le Merdasson et rejoint les rochers de Naye.
La dent de Jaman est en outre le symbole d'une troupe de scouts de Montreux, la « troupe de Jaman ».
En hiver, les skieurs bénéficient d'un téléski pour profiter d'une piste de 1,86 km de long.
Die Dent de Jaman ist ein Berg in den Berner Alpen oberhalb von Montreux zwischen den Rochers de Naye und dem Pass Col de Jaman. Seine höchste Stelle befindet sich auf 1'875 m ü. M.. Südlich unterhalb des Berges befindet sich die Station de Jaman einer Zahnradbahn, die von der Transports Montreux–Vevey–Riviera betrieben wird.
Die Form ist untypisch für die voralpine Region, die westliche Wand fällt steil in Richtung des Genfersees ab. Von der Station de Jaman kann der exponierte Gipfel über einen steilen Pfad erreicht werden.

This amazing tree stands proud and alone under the shadow of the mountains in the Lake District. On its own magnificent but even more beautiful with these surroundings.

FACTS:
Distinctive wader of desert areas, uniform sandy-brown with a blue back of head framed by a white and black stripe meeting at the nape. Bill is slightly down-curved. Very tall and slim with long legs that it uses to run across desert and semi-desert areas with its head held high. Dramatically patterned in flight with black flight feathers and underwings contrasting with its sandy body.

Received another call this afternoon that the Elephant caterpillar was back among the Fuchsias,
we followed him a bit , gosh what a glutton that caterpillar eats them a leaf in no time, beautiful to see, show more of this beautiful insect tomorrow
I was out looking for fall color on a windy, drizzly day. Most of the trees in my area are just turning brown and dropping their leaves but this majestic tree is doing its best. You can count on a maple!

Again in Kuala Lumpur this week. Yet another shot of the Petronas Towers, but this time from a new angle. Shot with a tripod, myself lying on the floor.
Shooting this building with a tripod is totally ok here, which is common sense, and not like the paranoia going on in some countries where shooting buildings with a tripod is almost considered as a terrorist act!

This ancient celtic standing stone on Slaughter Hill, Co. Wicklow, dates back to the Bronze Age and it has stood here for thousands of years. Its wide side faces out over the Irish sea and the rising sun. It is of a type called "Schist" and the closest place to here, where this type of stone can be found is over 20 miles away near Kippure, which means it was actually physically carried to this spot.
No one knows what is its significance but it is most likely ritualistic because of its position and its relation to the sun.. All I do know is that I have visited it several times at dawn and when the first light strikes it, it certainly stirs up some strange and wonderful emotions which Im sure was the reason for it being positioned there in the first place. Magical!

Standing guard and protecting the brood , i got a couple of hiss's to keep my distance , and i didn't want to stress them so i kept my distance , it was lovely to see them all enjoying there evening feed with Mum and Dad
Belhaven Bridge, known as the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’, is a bridge across the Biel Water. The Biel Water is a stream that runs through the village of Biel into Belhaven Bay.
The bridge is something of a misnomer because at low tide it's used to cross the stream and enter Belhaven Bay beach. As the tide comes in, water rushes in and fills the surrounding land, isolating the bridge.
