The Avengers vs. the Squadron Sinister!
cover: Gil Kane, John Romita
Marvel Comics Group (USA; 1975)
ex libris MTP
Started doing an alternate universe version of Squadron Sinister. Pretty interesting ideas popped into my head. This is that world's Hyperion, who has taken the appearance and name of Bob Reynolds (Sentry in the mainstream universe). In fact, however, Hyperion is a Super Skrull with no memory of his alien existence.
Interesting thing, Power Princess only existed in the original Squadron Supreme. There was no Power Princess in Squadron Sinister. In this universe there is, except that she''s actually Inez Temple, otherwise known as Outlaw in the mainstream universe.
Like Power Princess, there was no Black Archer in the original Squadron Sinister, only in Squadron Supreme. The identity of Black Archer in this universe is taken by Bullseye from that dimension.
Not sure what I'm doing with Doctor Spectrum. I may be making him the same identity as Fluke from our campaign in this universe.
Got another cool comic today... #Avengers 85! What's so special about this one??? I'm glad you asked! It's the #FirstAppearance of #SquadronSupreme! #Marvel's rip-off of the #justiceleague... Only rated 4.0 but another $10 steal in my opinion. Once the movie comes out it will be worth billions!!! dynomuttt: The Squadron came about from a friendly wager between Marvel and DC. I think the story goes the loser had to print a homage version of the other company's premier super team.
doctornvrmore: I don't know about any wager, never heard of that... My understanding was it was an agreed upon unofficial crossover sort of a thing... DC's own effort in this vein was the appearance of The Champions of Angor in the same month, in Justice League of America 87 (Feb, '71)
