MCP 20/52 This is a peony bud. The ants seem to have spring fever. Sadly it has been only rainy and cool for days - with no hope of sun in the forcast. Oh well.

The memorial was dedicated in 1954 to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775.It is located in Arlington Ridge Park within the George Washington Memorial Parkway, near the Ord-Weitzel Gate to Arlington National Cemetery and the #NetherlandsCarillonThe memorial was turned over to the National Park Service in 1955.
The war memorial was inspired by the iconic 1945 photograph of six Marines raising a U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II taken by Associated Press combat photographer Joe Rosenthal. Upon first seeing the photograph, sculptor Felix de Weldon created a maquette for a sculpture based on the photo in a single weekend at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland, where he was serving in the Navy. He and architect Horace W. Peaslee designed the memorial.

Live Soundtrack on "Multi D:2D" [Ludo Mich, B, 1982, video, zonder dial, 50'] + Concert
Eind 2002 werd in Nova de anarcho-satirische film "Lysistrata" (1974) van Ludo Mich vertoond. Deze veelzijdige avant-gardistische kunstenaar uit Antwerpen en zijn levengezellin zijn sindsdien vrienden geworden en gebleven. Ludo Mich is schilder, musicus, performance-artiest en behoort tot de Fluxus-beweging die geïnspireerd werd door Dada. Mich is verzot op happenings en verleent zijn oerstem aan noisy formaties zoals de Britse Blood Stereo of aan Hack Pac Sac Sac met wie hij in mei op tournee vertrekt naar New York. Samen met The Joyous Cosmology, een jazzy noise groep uit Antwerpen waarin zijn dochter Djuna meespeelt, geeft hij een korte performance ten beste. De improvisaties van The Joyous Cosmology roepen de atmosfeer op van het boek "Adventures in the Chemistry of Consciousness" van Allan W. Watt aan wie de groep haar naam schatplichtig is. Daarna zal Joyous Cosmology de recentste experimentele film van Ludo, "Multi D 2D" begeleiden, een montage van homemade beelden met holografische technieken en processen om multidimensionele beelden te creëren. "Holo-cinema" volgens Mich. In het voorprogramma is er een dadaïstische videoclip gemaakt door Rufus, de zoon van Ludo, en zijn compagnon Chris, met als vedetten de leden van de groep Traktor en de familie Mich, een familie als geen ander!

Rencontré fin 2002 au Nova lors de la diffusion de son film anarcho-satyrique de 1974, "Lysistrata", Ludo Mich, avant-gardiste anversois, et sa compagne sont depuis devenus des amis. Issu, dès les années 60 du mouvement international Fluxus - inspiré de Dada - cet artiste protéiforme iconoclaste et féru d'happenings accompagne à présent de sa voix primale des formations noisy (dont les anglais Blood Stereo ou Hack Pac Sac Sac, avec qui il continuera une tournée en mai, cette fois à New-York). Il nous proposera d'ailleurs une courte performance avec The Joyous Cosmology, un groupe jazzy noise d'Anvers dont sa propre fille, Djuna, est membre. Leurs improvisations aux réminiscences free évoquent bien ces "Adventures in the Chemistry of Consciousness" du livre d'Allan A. W.Watts dont le titre a donné le nom au groupe. Le Nova est d'autant plus heureux d'acceuillir Joyous Cosmology que ce sera son premier concert à Bruxelles! Et la seconde fois qu'il accompagnera le dernier film expérimental de Ludo, "Multi D:2D", un montage d'images fabriquées maison par les techniques d'holographie et autres procédés d'imageries multidimentionnelles (le holo-cinéma selon Mich).
En avant-programme, un clip vidéo dadaïste réalisé par Rufus, le fils de Ludo, et sa compagne Chris, avec en vedettes le groupe klezmer/punkrock Traktor de la scène squatt anversoise, et la famille Mich, décidément pas comme les autres!
