Quite a joy walking down Oxford Street with snow floating all around.
Oxford Street's sparkly illuminations for 2012 are sponsored by, love it or hate it, Marmite. The road was closed to traffic this day and shops were open till 11pm
The lighting here in my living room is marginal. I need to take a shot of it during the day, as the colors really pop. The detail on the lighting is unbelievable considering he did it with a spray can. I'd have a hard time painting it with a brush!

Why this shot? What is the story here? Basically, a little education on bokeh (blurred backgrounds) and depth of field. I am testing out a new lens and was only about 8 feet away from Len. The only thing that would come into focus was his hand and the initial spray of the hose. The closer you are to your subject, the more the background fades away (or blurs). This is a fun thing to try when working on depth in your photography - add other compositional techniques and you have an interesting story.
