After spending the last 6 days shooting nightscapes with Wayne Pinkston we managed to get to Mono Lake to shoot a few panoramas. We had to find a location far away from the south tufas because being a new moon and on a saturday night the main area was a zoo, kids running around with flashlights photographers stumbling around in every direction. It was kinda like drunk disneyland, Hehe.

After spending a few hours on Mormon Row to catch sunrise, I drove a bit farther back along Antelope Flats Road and hiked out onto the prairie to capture this image of a bison leading his gang (that's really what they're called) across the flat, and away from the areas where tourists usually inhabit during the day.
The gang was moving pretty fast, not stopping much to forage, so I wasn't able to make an image of them directly in front of the iconic Cathedral Group. After seeing this movement, I walked back to my Jeep and noticed two isolated bison across the road. In probably my riskiest move of the entire trip, I hiked to within about 75 yards of those two, but was unable to catch a clean image, as they kept in pretty tall brush, and repeatedly laid down. There was no iconic background from my vantage, as the mountains were at my back. Figuring I had a pretty good day, I decided not to press my luck further and returned to the Jeep in search of more landscape images.
Bow Lake is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies. Bow Lake was one of the stops during driving on the Icefields Parkway. It was a cloudy morning; I was amazed by the magnificent peaks and reflections on the lake. The view is stunning. Spending some time walking around the lake, the scenery of Canadian Rockies is out of this world.
This was a bit different view of Bow Lake 😅
Last night, I found the most beautiful swampy, marshy, lushly forested sim and I was completely enchanted with it. I grabbed up my mischievous teddy bear, and lil Dox and we set off for an adventure!
Dox was not completely on board, especially when I suggested that we should camp here for the night and go home in the morning. Granted we weren't exactly set up for a camp out! But there was a lovely, dilapidated covered bridge behind us. Dox said that wasn't nearly covered up enough for him, and that he wanted to go home to his cozy pup bed. Teddy and I told him he was being wimpy, and that it would be fun to spend the night in the woods, counting stars.
"Wait, I hear something!" Ted said, nervous himself all of a sudden. Ooohh...I think I hear it too! Squealszzz!! (the power of suggestion!) We were home and drinking hot chocolate in a flash! But not before we grabbed a photo for our adventure memory album!
I hope everyone is having a week filled with happy! ♥

I was spending a lazy afternoon by the river in the woods. Only a little sunlight came through the branches to illuminate green velvety moss. It feels like time has stopped... Just me and this beautiful clean nature.
Spending a vacation week with the "kids" and grandkids, my schedule shifted and I found myself up before sunrise every morning. The skies and clouds at Lanikai Beach were often so dramatic with the sunrise, sunset, rain and rainbows.
Happy to be back here after spending time in hospital.. maybe soon I 'll be able to shoot a few new pictures.. let 's hope to be as lucky! Enjoying yours again anyway!!

If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine

With Valentine’s day in mind, I wanted to post a love theme photo without the usual hearts and flowers theme. So here’s my Valentine’s day photo: two companions bracing the incoming storm together while enjoying the sunshine during its brief existence - “I’m your rock, and you’re my rock.”
Happy Valentine's Day!
After spending some time in the center of the city, we walked over to a place overlooking the Cuyahoga River to enjoy the sunset. On our way there, we looked back and were able to capture the golden light reflecting off the skyscrapers. The building at the center with a red key on top, is the Key Tower - it is the tallest building in Ohio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_Tower

After spending most of Saturday catching up on work, I just wanted to get out of the house-within our fifteen km limit (soon to be lifted-yay!). While driving down some back roads, we stumbled across this canola field. With much excitement, I grabbed the camera only to realise I had left the battery in the charger at home. No camera bag and no spares.
We went back on Sunday and even though I took mostly straight shots, it was this ICM of the field that I liked best.
In my never ending quest for ways to go back to sleep, I listen to podcasts. Usually stories but also sounds, generally of the ocean and rain. Last night I listened to "rain on a train" and then "trains on tracks". This image reminds me of being on that romantic train journey and dreaming while the landscape rushes by in a blur of colour.
She spends much of her day sleeping now, lying on the comforter with an old throw pillow, raising her head at any commotion, but rarely rising to see. Lying outside when the day cools is another pleasure, watching her world go by. What a wonderful companion she has been. 💔
After spending some time scouting The Queen's Garden Loop Trail on my 2nd day, I returned later that evening and ran across this unique looking tree and it reminded me of the photos i've seen of the old gnarled tree in Schulman Grove in the Bristlecone Forest, which still sits on my bucket list. This one turned out a bit grainy even though I used some light panels and ISO 1600 to minimize the noise but I thought it still looked interesting. I still have a lot to learn and this is part of the road to MW nirvana which still eludes me. I suspect it's the fact that I have a crop sensor camera when I really should be using a Full Frame for this kind of photography, or it could be operator malfunction and inexperience. I probably won't know until I upgrade, I'm holding out for the 6D Mrk II which should be out spring 2016. :)
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week ahead everyone :)
After spending quite a few wonderful minutes in this dramatic landscape getting beautiful sunrise shots, I couldn't resist walking down the slopes to catch the sunlight through the holes in the pinnacles.
Can you please crawl out your window is a. Bob Dylan song sung by Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey on my playlist. I think the generally wild and windy week had made these special moments just dazzle.
They spend a lot of time underwater catching fish, this one was resting on a pole.

I'm spending a lot of time with the birds at the moment...
It's cold.. they're hungry. In return for food, I get to photograph them. It's a good equation :-)
I think this one probably has a leg injury, otherwise these birds rest and sleep standing up. But it looked content... calm. I'm sure it was enjoying the light.
Comments off for this one...
with my thanks for the quiet company :-)

Just spending the afternoon relaxing at my computer looking through some shots I've overlooked from last year that are prob worth putting in a folder to process when I get a chance. This being one of them from a nice day I had last year in Northumberland. It was a bit of an up and down day and started off with a sunrise location disaster which I just managed to recover from and get a shot of Dunstanburgh Castle... but it had not been my original plan. This was in the evening at the Jigsaw rocks on Cocklawburn Beach.
Hope this weather is now here to stay after last weeks cold spell!
About blackbird-sized and striking black-and-white. It has a very distinctive bouncing flight and spends most of its time clinging to tree trunks and branches, often trying to hide on the side away from the observer. Its presence is often announced by its loud call or by its distinctive spring 'drumming' display. The male has a distinctive red patch on the back of the head and young birds have a red crown. What they eat: Insects, seeds and nuts (Courtesy RSPB).
Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it’s much appreciated 👍

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜 💕💕💕
After spending the better part of 3 years in patch paint, Lake State 6351 finally received the company paint it deserved a few weeks ago. After making its debut on the Santa Train at the beginning of the month, it entered freight service and is still very clean. After picking up a CSX grain train from HESR in Saginaw, the train rolls through the south end of Birch Run on a drizzly night.
To spend time, lots of time over a meal with friends. To share wine and conversation, and to let both bring forth much laughter...well, what a true pleasure that is!

Sea otters spend the majority of their day taking it easy, resting by floating on their backs. Groups or "rafts" of sea otters congregate in calm, quiet waters. The highest number of sea otters recorded in such a raft totaled over two thousand animals - that would have been quite a sight to see!
This one would float peacefully, stretch a bit and preen, then resume the "position." Sounds like a great way to spend a lazy, Friday afternoon!
Have a blessed weekend! Thank you so much for your views and comments! They are greatly appreciated!

I for one will stay and have now upgraded to Pro. After all 50$ is not much compared to many other things I spend my money on...

Im spending more time trying to look for the smaller details in the landscape when I go out. I know these type of photos won't generate as many likes as the grander landscapes but to be honest that does not bother me. Im finding shooting them quite satisfying and Im enjoying examining the details of nature a little closer!
After spending some time doing long exposures on our one and only morning at the Grundlsee it was already pretty bright and I thought about going back to our room, but luckily I did not. I still walked around and took a few snapshots and as I packed my gear the sun all of a sudden peaked above the mountains. I quickly took my camera out of my bag and decided to take some images without the tripod since setting up the tripod would have taken too long. In hindsight, it would have been nice to take a panorama, but since I didn't expect this to happen I just had a single image which I cropped to 2:1. Anyway, I really like the colors, the sunstar and the cute little duck :) Hope you like it too!
