The inclusion of "Cabrito" (young goat) and "Llama" speaks directly to the indigenous and pastoral traditions of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, where these resilient animals have sustained communities for centuries. Above and below these regional meats, the truncated "ales" (likely tamales) and universally beloved "Pizzas" illustrate the fascinating culinary crossroads found in remote tourist hubs like Iruya. "Postres Regionales" promises sweet conclusions drawn from local ingredients, perhaps incorporating cayote or quinoa, grounding the dining experience deeply in the local terroir. Students in grades 4-8 at Madison Metropolitan School District visited the Central Library in May 2026 to compete in the Spanish Language Book Bowl or Copa de Libros to answer trivia questions about books they read during the school year.
While different grade levels took turns competing for glory on the third floor of the library, the classes that weren't competing headed downstairs to the children's area to enjoy a zine-making activity in the Bubbler Room, explore books and games, and play in the play space with planned activities provided by Madison Public Library youth services librarians and staff. More than 200 students were in attendance!
