On the bill are two of the most celebrated matadors, Juan Belmonte and Ignacio SĆ”nchez MejĆas. The latter's fame was magnified when, after his death on August 13, 1934 following a goring in the Plaza of Manzanares, he was memorialized by several Spanish poets of the Generation of '27. The best known poem was by Federico GarcĆa Lorca with his "Llanto por Ignacio SĆ”nchez MejĆas" ("Lament for Ignacio SĆ”nchez MejĆas", sometimes translated under the title "Lament for the Death of a Bullfighter")
