This was shot from a beach about 80 miles north of the launch site. Unfortunately, the camera wasn't sensitive enough to capture how cool it really looked. This shows from its appearance until the solids burn out. You can't see much until about halfway into the video (:57 left).

almost as much fun as seeing the shuttle was watching all the different kinds of people gathered on the Mall.

we finished the day with a trip to the video game exhibit at the American Art Museum. our friend said we should have eaten at pizza hut, to make it an all-80s nostalgia kind of day.
