Aryabhatta which was launched on April 19th 1974 by Intercosmos Rocket of erstwhile USSR into a 594 km orbit. The 360 kg satellite was aimed at proving various spacecraft technologies. It also carried instruments for X-rays and Gamma-rays astronomy and aeronomy experiments.

Space Shuttle Challenger comes in for landing at Edwards Air Force base, CA on April 9, 1983. Scanned from a slide, hence the poor quality.

Dec 3, 2015: that morning, just after the main gates opened to KSC Visitor Center, I RAN to the Atlantis exhibit and was the first one in that day and had the first session all to myself.

Space Shuttle Endeavour rides piggyback on a Boeing 747 on its way back from California to Florida.

Space shuttle Discovery landed at Dulles airport on April 17 on the back of a 747 after a fly-around of much of the region. It’s now bound for the Smithsonian’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
