This is quite the old olive tree. I would guess a minimum age of 1500 years old. It is in a place you can only get to by walking a few hours or by boat. The stone you see the olive tree hugging belongs to an ancient town here. There was a town that traded and has an asclepio, which is a temple for healing physical and spiritual. This place is one of my most favorite places in Crete, and it is off the beaten track.
We live in a beautiful world that many of us have lost. Happy are those who take the time to go out and see this amazing place and take the time to connect with ourselfs and nature.
This is an ancient lookout point, can you just imagine the life of the people in those days standing watch here.....

Crete is an amazing island full of hidden gems. This is a bay that you can't see the sea from the beach because the bay is L shaped. After an amazing hike what a great place to swim and spend the night.
A summer sunrise on the southern coast of Crete. Olive trees growing on a rocky cliff overlook the calm sea, illuminated by the first soft light of the day. September brings warmth, silence, and the timeless Mediterranean atmosphere, where nature and landscape blend in peaceful harmony.
What an amazing walk through an unknown Gorge. While I am in places like this, the rest of the world just dissolves. I love to take a bit of time to just sit and be here and now.
At heights like this I wonder how great it would be to fly and dive into the sea ; ) The great thing about Crete is you can swim all year round. Water temperature 17 C. This may look like it is from a drone but it is from climbing up on these amazing steep cliffs.
This amazing gorge is made by water and used by people in the summer to get to the beach. I have driven through once with water rushing. What an amazing experiance.
