Katy Glenn Bass, Deputy Director of Free Expression Programs at PEN American Center, presents PEN's new report "Secret Sources: Whistleblowers, National Security, and Free Expression."

PEN Presents: “Secret Sources" brought together NSA whistleblower Thomas Drake, Jesselyn Radack of ExposeFacts' Whistleblower & Source Protection Program, New York Times reporter James Risen, and moderator Susan Glasser of Politico to debate the impact of the Obama administration’s aggressive pursuit of national security leaks on freedom of expression. The issue has gained unprecedented national attention following the 2013 revelations by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who joined the event via Skype following the panel in a conversation with PEN Executive Director Suzanne Nossel on whistleblowing and questions of conscience.
This forum builds off of a new PEN report, Secret Sources: Whistleblowers, National Security, and Free Expression. PEN’s research demonstrates that gaps in existing protections for whistleblowers, failure to adequately address retaliation against them, and the Obama Administration’s use of the Espionage Act against leakers is damaging freedom of expression, press freedom, and access to information in the United States.

This graphic shows five types of stem cells. Stem cells differ in abilities. Totipotent stem cells are the most powerful: They can form any cell, and even an entire organism. Pluripotent stem cells are almost as versatile, while multipotent stem cells can make a limited range of cell types. Oligopotent stem cells can make just a few cell types within the same organ or tissue. Unipotent stem cells replace one specific cell type, like sperm or skin cells.

The best sources I can find say that this is a dragon, however it appears. Actually, it's one of a set; they were originally constructed to spout into the bowl of the nearby "Dragon and Bull Fountain", but were evidently eventually judged to be too large to work there aesthetically. So the originals were moved to the balustrade of the nearby Copenhagen City Hall, and slightly smaller versions were mounted on the fountain.
This tour is an 8-mile round trip through the twisting waterways of the San Blas mangrove zone where wildlife is around every corner. The tour takes you through tunels of overhanging mangrove branches in which iguanas, tropical birds and waterfowl take refuge. Between the dangling roots of the mangroves you will see see crocodiles, snakes and turtles. "La Tovara" is an indian word for sweet water; at the end of the tour you will visit the source of the water system; a clear spring pool where you can snorkel with freshwater fish. The complete tour takes you to the wildlife refuge and crocodile breeding center
