In addition to the nightingales, this is now one of my favourite songbirds. The song is supposed to be put together by copying tunes from numerous other species (up to 75!), many of those present in the wintering area in SE Africa. The result is incredibly varied and melodic.

Well, another image here to upload. This was taken with a small camera at high iso, so further edited with a watercolor effect that I thought fitting to the mood. And besides, it kind of looked that way to begin with anyway :)

Yesterday was my mum’s dying day and the day before was her birthday. I actually planned to make this picture which I had in mind yesterday, but I just couldn’t. Too many thoughts were swirling around in my head, ranging from happy memories to really sad feelings of missing her. Even though these thoughts are still present, I today really wanted to dedicate her a picture in order to thank her for everything. And since this rose which she got one and a half years ago from one of her friends is faded but still with us, it reminds me of my mum which is dead, but still I sometimes have the feeling that she is with us, is smiling down on me and taking care of me. I miss you so much, mum! I hope that you (and Schecki) are doing well up there and that I’ll see you again one day!
This is up on a smaller scale to see if it works as my cover banner but even on a smaller scale it still does not fit!!!

Well, my first post of 2016... but yes, a photo from last year. Just no time to do everything that I want to accomplish, much less all needed... and yeah, still running behind. But I really wanted to say hi to everyone out there, and to say yes I am -still- still alive :)
But on a music related front, I have a song that has made it to the semi finals in a contest... one of 30 chosen. I am seriously happy about this! It has been a really rough few months, time of loss, high stress and setbacks aplenty... and this has been some -much- needed good news...
So just have to wait until the Jan 20th to hear if I got the win :) Was actually supposed to all be announced in December, but events kind of sidetracked that....

A little over a week ago, I biked about 20 miles on a nice fall Saturday to a North Side Cemetery called Rosehill Cemetery to see this musician. It was really something eerie and special. I'm glad I was able to buy her albums on vinyl at the show, too.
