Back in April we came together with Street Dreams Magazine & Soulection and announced a series of pop up photowalks across America.

Only giving 24 hours notice before each walk, we were overwhelmed with the response and the attendance of thousands of like minded individuals who came out for one purpose. To inspire and create with one another. This is the video recap.

Founded on the principle that "one of us is not as strong as all of us" Thanks Givends is an annual effort now in it's 15th year led by Carlos 'Loslito' Guaico of Walk Talkin to raise money for organizations that promote art and music programs for at risk youth.

This year’s event will be held at 333 Live in Downtown LA and will feature 4 individually curated stages representing the best that LA’s underground music scene has to offer.

Representing the best of LA's underground clubs will be the Club Room, curated by Carlos “Loslito”.

Loslito is an event producer and musician based in the Los Angeles area. He is the visionary behind classic events Root Down, Descarga, More Fridays, Bounce Rock Skate, Cherry Poppin and Thanks Givends. His events were born out of identifying a void in LA culture often being credited for building a foundation for new movements. As a musician, he is the original keyboardist for The Breakestra and Black Eyed Peas and is the founder and creator of soul septet The Rebirth. He founded label Kajmere Sound and KSDmusic distribution which had a four year run giving a voice to many underground acts.

Representing the world and latin music genres will be the Gold Room featuring the World Stage curated by DJ Gazoo

Gazoo is a dj and event producer from Los Angeles. Gazoo's natural ebullience shines at his frequent dj gigs and while acting as the de facto frontman for global bass powerhouse Subsuelo. As a dj, Gazoo has set the stage for the late, great Jimmy Castor, Fred Wesley, Shuggie Otis, Nu-Mark, Black Coffee, Gaslamp Killer, Dam Funk, Nicodemus, Toy Selectah and Nortec Collective. These opening credits reflect Gazoo's deep and varied influences; he's combined a lifelong love affair with hip-hop with an ability to spin Funk Cumbia and Global Bass. Gazoo continues to book talent for the Long Beach Funk Festival and works closely with the event production company Art Don't Sleep, which recently brought in Tony Allen and Seu Jorge. During the day, Gazoo works with My Friends Place, a shelter for homeless youth in Hollywood.

Rapper Goldlink from Washington, D.C in Toronto.

Caught up with Grand Rapids' own Sango this past weekend for some press shots! Crazy to think how far he's come in just short time. What a talented and humbled guy he is. Can't wait to see what's next for him.

If you haven't already, check out his latest release Da Rocinha 2: sango.bandcamp.com/album/da-rocinha-2

Abhi Dijon’s “Jon B” was recommended by a friend after a short discussion on GoldLink, Soulection, and our shared excitement for Kaytranada’s upcoming album. I sent her back Rodney Tenor’s “Sex, Club, Radio,” a groovey tune that has been an audio obsession of mine for the last few weeks...
