With over 170 odorant receptors, Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) are wildly skilled creatures. In contrast, mosquitoes only havw about 80 such receptors. Houseflies...60. What do they do with this super sniffing power? Why, find flowers, of course. And with their keen flower sniffing power, they can tell the difference between hundreds of flower varieties from yards away, and even identify whether or not there is pollen or nectar within. Beyond its flowering ferreting use, their sense of smell also helps bees communicate with one another!

Sorry for another shot that most visitors to a Florence seem to take, but again it's such a beautiful sight.
Sorry about the clipped wings and high iso but my exif doesn't show that I'm at just under 800mm focal length and I had no time to change my settings as this fly by happened very close to me so I just got the shot rather than trying to be perfect lol. My neighbourhood must be getting pretty bad when hoodlums are doing this kind of thing in broad daylight in front of witnesses.

I think this collar not only suits her but most importantly it works and it doesn't bother her as much as the plastic collar from the vet. So far she has not once tried to get rid of it and she behaves as always.

Norfolk Southern's DF03, originating in Federal Yard, delivers fourteen empty hoppers to the Ardent Mills elevators at Alton, IL. I'd seen this intriguing move a couple times but was never able to come up with a decent shot. This'll have to do.

So Sorry to have to post and run today, I'll try and catch up later. Couldn't believe my luck when I was setting up my fruit pic for Smile on Saturday Group then indoors flew this Gatekeeper and decided to land on the fruit! Have a great weekend. It's our 35th Wedding Anniversary so may be a little busy - if I'm lucky a little fruity lol, chance would be a fine thing but even better off to spend it with my gorgeous grandson! ;0)
