A Kodak Tri-X with my Zorki 1 type D (year 1955), Lyon, France, January 25 an 26, 2023. Since tenth of days, the weather was invariably very cloudy with 0-3°C (mild temperatures for a Zorki...) making the outdoor scenes very flat and colorless.
The Zorki camera was loaded with a 36-exposure Kodak Tri-X, with its leader trimmed for old Leica's. Outdoor, the Industar-22 lens was equipped with a 36mm push-on "1A" (likely the so-called "Skylight") filter and unknown brand (not FOCA) and a generic metal cylindric shade hood. Indoor, only the shade hood was used. After solving the problem of the stiff rewind mechanism, the film advance was flawless all along the 36 exposures.
Expositions were determined using a Minolta Autometer III with a 10° finder for selective measurements privileging the shadow areas. The possible slight absorption of the 1A filter was corrected by +0.5 EV.
Typically the indoor views at the Musée de la Résistance were exposed at 1/20s or 1/30s and full aperture 1:3.5 and outdoor views were at 1/60s at 1:5.6 to 1:8.

After exposure, the film was processed using Adox Adonal (= Agfa Rodinal) developer at dilution 1+50, 20°C for 14min.
The film was then digitalized using a Sony A7 body adapted to a Minolta Auto Bellows III and a Minolta Slide Duplicator using a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5 at a reproduction ratio of 1:1. The reproduced RAW files obtained were processed in LR prior the the final JPEG editions.
All views of the film are presented (with resizing for overlapped ones) in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg.
About the camera and the lens:
This camera is a practically mint sample of Zorki 1 arrived to me in Lyon, France, January 10, 2023.
The camera looked exiting from the KMZ factory in USSR almost 70 years later spent in a time capsule ... with almost no traces of use. According to a custom receipt of July 28, 1955, signed in Vienna, Austria, the camera body and lens are the original matched ones. As for the original FED, FED-Zorki and Zorki's ("ФЭД", "ФЭД-Зоркий", „Зоркий“), the Zorki 1 was a straight legal copy of the Oskar Barnack Leica II after the cancelation of German camera patents following the end of WWII.
This Zorki 1 is a type D model PM1115 (year 1955 according sovietcams.com/index7584.html). Type D Zorki's were produced from 1953 to 1955 in about 250.000 units with serial numbers ranging from #470.000 to (in 1955) #55 45.000. The original lens of this Zorki units is an collapsible lens Industar-22 1:3.5 f=5cm.
In the rear pocket of the ever-ready leather bag was deposited the custom receipt and a film label of Agfa negative-color CN17 likely from the 60's.

It is also hosting South Asia's first food exhibition named Sanjha Chulha, curated by Dr. Pushpesh Panth to promote the incredible variety of local and regional cuisines of South Asia showcasing the diversity of culinary art.
After hovering around the Lotus Bazaar (the handicraft market) for 10-15 minutes, we landed up at the nicely decorated interior of The Audh, one of the best restaurants of The Ashok, for an interaction session with chef Rajan Loomba.
Rajan Loomba, senior executive chef of The Ashok, who has been attached to the hotel for a very long time, explained how culinary arts have evolved rapidly in recent years. "Eating out was a rare thing in our boyhood. Wedding parties were perhaps the only means of eating out at that time", Chef Loomba continued, "Now a days the growing usage of mobile phones and internet has given a boom to this industry. Growing number of foodies and food blogging websites are also playing a enormous role here." Then moving on to the concept of Sanjha Chulha, which literarily means Community Kitchen, Chef clarified that despite political barriers how people from SAARC countries are trying to connect through art and culture. This festival is another step towards that. Chef mentioned that once you leave Asia, people hardly recognize cuisine of these 9 countries separately as the basic flavor and spices used are very similar in these places. "Look how people from Bangladesh are selling food in the street using Indian names", Mr. Loomba cited. "Diversity is there, but somehow we are connected somewhere" and this food festival is an attempt to explore that connection. When we asked how they select a few dishes given such a wide range of dishes available in these countries, Chef told that they made a selection from the dishes they can make using the available resources on the basis of feedback received over several buffet parties. They got a huge help from embassies to stitch together recipes and make them even better. Here Mr. Loomba shared a beautiful memory about how they got one of their very special dishes Irani Raita, a usual Raita with raisins, honey and peeled cucumber skin from Late Usha Narayanan, wife of 10th President of India, Late K.R. Narayanan.
Meantime we got to taste a few dishes: Mutton Kebab, Momo, Murg Rihana, Anda Keema Kaleji, Afgani Shorba, Coconut Naan, Rice, Haleem etc. Items were light and tasted good. Chef specially mentioned two dishes: Murg Rihana and Haleem. "Murg Rihanna is a different take on Butter Chicken ", Mr. Loomba continued "and spices of Halim are bought by one delegate from Pakistan". Specialty of the Halim is that they put chicken instead of mutton in it, which is a new concept to me. Coconut Naan along with juicy Shorba (light mutton stew) melted in our mouth. Spice level of all dishes are kept at the minimum level as their usual visitors are very health conscious. As an example Chef mentioned health consciousness of our PM Mr. Modi who wanted cookies without butter and how team of Chefs had a brainstorming session to solve it.

A major interchange is undergoing a role reversal in Arizona's second-largest metropolitan area. Designed to solve traffic headaches and a dire safety problem, the Interstate-10, Prince to Ruthrauff roads project in Tucson is "flipping" the grade of Prince Road so that it will pass over, instead of under, I-10.
The revamp is part of a $76.4-million effort to widen I-10 along a two-mile stretch to eight lanes from six. Crews have to contend with six lanes of traffic at all times, a major railroad route and multiple utilities—all while keeping an eye out for potential archaeological finds.
Utilitarian
Since last fall, nearly all of the project's first 180 days have been devoted to relocating 15 separate utility lines that criss-cross the construction zone. Utilities include high-pressure petroleum and gas lines, sewer and water lines, electric power and telecommunications. "It was basically an underground utility interchange," says Jody Rodriguez, utility coordinator with the Tucson office of URS, a design subconsultant.
Crews relocated 72-in.-dia and 78-in.-dia sewer lines with flows of around 22 million gallons per day. The contractor advanced four jack-and-bore operations, including a 450-ft-long, 60-in.-dia casing under I-10 to reroute sewer flow.
As is typical, crews found utility lines that didn't match the positions indicated on the as-builts. Surprisingly, some of the existing joint trenches were encased in concrete and had to be carefully demolished—in one case, while avoiding damage to a major electrical line, says Edie Griffith-Mettey, senior project manager in the Tucson office of prime consultant AECOM.
Nevertheless, "we've been able to accomplish most all the relocations at this point without a delay to the overall project," says Todd Emery, district engineer with the Arizona Dept. of Transportation.
Besides allowing for better access and maintenance, designers had to figure out a way to protect the utilities from the weight of huge embankments and retaining walls required to elevate Prince Road. Thus, they corralled the utilities into a single utility corridor spanned by a 135-ft-long bridge. "Initially, we were going to put in a protection slab. But when we started doing the cost analysis, it was just as expensive to build a bridge," Rodriguez says.
Flipping Out
A 223-ft-long bridge is being constructed to carry Prince Road over I-10, and a third bridge will take the road over a Union Pacific Railroad track. The existing configuration crosses the railroad at grade, which has led to significant traffic snarls and accidents, Emery says. Forty to 60 trains use the line a day, but this could double due to a planned Union Pacific expansion.
Phoenix-based Pulice Construction is building cast-in-place concrete bridges, removing earth embankments currently elevating I-10 over Prince Road and constructing temporary detours to divert all traffic in phase one to one side of I-10, says Aaron Insco, Pulice project manager. To maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction at all times, all westbound traffic will be diverted to an existing two-lane frontage road that will be reconfigured into three lanes. Eastbound I-10 will detour onto the westbound I-10 lanes. After crews build half the bridges and reconstruct the freeway and eastbound frontage road, all traffic will shift to the east side as crews construct the other half of the project. Prince Road will be shut down for the duration of the project.
Most of the excavation from the I-10 embankments will be re-used to elevate the frontage roads that will tie into the top of Prince Road, but some 180,000 cu yd will be hauled away. Soft soil conditions have required nearly 400 drilled shafts as deep as 70 ft and 5 ft in diameter to support bridges and 30-ft-high retaining walls. Approximately 75,000 cu yd of concrete will be used on the project, excluding precast concrete being used for the bridge girders.

As crews slice away the embankments that used to elevate I-10, they will confront undisturbed earth that could contain archaeological artifacts—in fact, some artifacts already have been found during utility construction, Emery says. Construction activities will occur in two steps, pausing once crews reach virgin earth so that the archaeological team can survey and catalog the area. Meanwhile, Pulice will continue work in a pre-cleared area.
The project team also is looking out for the living. Because the area sees a lot of pedestrian activity that will be disrupted for the two-year-plus construction cycle, ADOT has set up a shuttle service to bring employees of nearby businesses to and from work on each side of the freeway. "This is the first time we've done that," Emery says. "There are a lot of firsts for us on this project."
Depending on how smoothly this project proceeds, ADOT is looking at performing a similar grade flip at the Ruthrauff Road interchange to the north. That project could go out to bid sometime after summer 2014. A year after that, Emery says they hope to reconfigure the Ina Road and I-10 interchange. “This is our test run,” he says. ”By the time we get to Ina, we should be really good at it.”

Speaking of problem solving, the team performed surgery on a young mother whose propane cooking stove exploded. Both hands needed skins grafts and the doctors then wanted her hands to remain elevated, so slings were a necessity. The hospital provided slings that were cumbersome and not desirable in this situation, so our recovery room nurses went to work preparing a prototype sling, which Gilda then took to the hospital laundry. The laundry was then able to sew several slings using the nurses’ design from a piece of left over fabric. It is our hope that they will continue to use this sling for future needs as well.
