Sprouting salad growing in my new greenhouse hot bed.

Very pleased with this new bed which is heated, with grow lights, and all powered by solar.

We've been wishing to install a system for solar heating of domestic hot water for some time. The two collector panels (small house) are now atop our roof and doing their job. In addition, come winter, some of the heat generated will go to the space heater (propane-burning furnace) ahead of the fossil fuel. That, plus our wood-burning stove, should make a beneficial difference in both our waste stream and our heating bill.
18, South Road - where my Granny used to live - viewed from Redland Station. The house now has a solar panel on the roof (possibly for heating). Judging by the Google Earth imagery, the panel was installed some time after April 14th 2007.

With a common bubble wrap I reduced the heat losses by evaporation and the temperature is around 28°C / 82°F.
I would like to try a thermosyphon but there's no way I can place the collector lower than the pool itself so I think I will try to get the water to flow just by convection. Hope it works.

A rare example of a modern farmhouse designed appropriately for the tropical savannas. The good features are largely those of traditional Queenslander houses. The roof is white or metallic and reflective, the living areas are up off the ground at first-floor level to maximise breezes and keep away from the hot ground, the windows are tinted and there are wide overhanging eaves to keep the sun off. The carport under the livingroom (on the left side of the house) appears to have ceiling fans! And there is a solar heater on the roof.
