A small group of photographers were allowed to photograph this theatre yesterday. It was built in 1927. We were fortunate to have this lovely organ on stage as well. Used Nik software to create this tonality. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail

When I took this photo some years ago I didn't have the skill or processing software to salvage a poor image. Progress since then.

A small drainage canal alongside the river Ruhr. Usually there is lots of duckweed during the warm months.

Sunsetting over one of the software companies in hyderabad on a Autumn evening

This is a mosaic of 3 panels I made of the East side of the moon. The final image was rotated 90° CCW.

I used a Sky-watcher Skymax 102 and ZWO ASI 120MC-S to capture 3 different close-ups (left to right), which I later stitched together in Photoshop. :)

If you look at the top left, you can see the shadows over "Mare Crisium" ;)

The kind & generous Ron from hdrsoft have invited me to become a partner & affiliate of their software - Photomatix Pro. I guess with a photostream as awesome as mine, its hard not to be impressed by anyone lol! :P Seriously i'm only jokin'!! Really a big thanks for the offer Ron! :))

Let's go straight to the point. I have a Photomatix code for you hdr fanatics out there ! If you have been thinking of buying yourself a copy of Photomatix Pro all along...this might just be the right time to do so! :P (haha! Just kiddin' I'm no salesman here.. guess I watch too many TV commercials :P) I know most of my flickrs friends here are already using photomatix.. that is just too bad too sad :P This is especially for those hdr lovers out there who have been (quietly) following my photostream & wish to kick off this new found interest ;)

Here's the important part!

====================

Now you can get a fifteen percent off any photomatix software (both Windows & Mac) just by entering -> “A R T I E N G 1 5” (no spacing between letters :)) in the coupon code box of the Photomatix purchase website. With that money u can save, you can also treat yourself to another awesome dinner & tell yourself how good life is! haha! Btw this code is valid from 06 August 2009 to 06 August 2013 so lots of time to think about it :)

Of coz..before you decide to part with your hard-earned cash (like i always do :P), you should always download a free trial version of Photomatix from w w w . h d r s o f t . c o m to play around & see if you like it. Beware tho.. it can be addictive! :P

Last but not least, TGIF!!!!! Its party time! Hope everyone has a wonderful end to the week & a lovely weekend!

Should try to post the colour version too , reflections might work better , for sure !

But anyway , I'll always be an incorrigible B&W lover !!!

I tried to treat me , but it must be congenital :)))

Here the Colour Version "Impressionisme"

not exactly the same crop . In the B&W version ,I kept the ratio 2X3 of my APS-C sensor

in fact I had not really finalized the colour version, because I always try converting B&W, that I usually prefer

Some software experts posed with me for a group portrait a couple months ago.

Top (L to R) is Christina, Lisa, Kandi, Cristy, and Jane.

Lower (L to R) is me and Jenna.

The concept was to publicly display some favorite software: real or faux.

I, for one, was initially surprised at the number of software experts in my collection of friends. In retrospect - maybe that should not be surprising.

After all, arguing with any one of us expert women is like reading a software license agreement...

...in the end, you ignore it all and click "I agree".

Resistance is futile.

Enjoy

This isn’t an upload to talk about the image above, it’s more to talk about the software that was used to process it.

I’m very much a lightroom user, especially on my desktop computer, I’m a bit more flexible if using my iPad, but even there I use lightroom mobile a lot of the time.

There is always talk online about software alternatives to lightroom, one company that makes an alternative is Skylum and their Luminar software, you may or may not have heard of them.

I’ve read bits and pieces online about Luminar and a lot of people seem to like it as an alternative to lightroom, but I’ve never taken it much further than that.

Fortunately I also like getting things for free and reading this months Digital camera magazine I realised you could get Luminar 3 for free, so that’s what I did and now I have a fully functioning copy of Luminar to use for as long as I like. I haven’t had chance to fully get used to it yet, my first thoughts are that lightroom is better, but that’s probably because I’m used to Lightroom and have been using it a long time, I’m sure when I use Luminar 3 more I will get more used to it.

So as most people don’t buy photography magazines and may not have seen this offer I thought I’d share the details here and if you’d like to have a free copy of Luminar 3 yourself then you can, it’s quite a simple process, it is only for windows and macs though, not iPads, tablets or your phone.

So here is the address you need to put in your browser address bar, don’t put it in google or any other search engine, it needs to go in the address bar at the top of your browser. You will get an email sent to you with a link to the software download and an activation code and that’s pretty much it. There isn’t anything dodgy about it, it’s a proper legal offer and the company behind the software is a respected company but if your unsure just put Luminar 3 into google and do a bit of research.

This is what you put in browser address bar,

This is not the version I wanted to upload but the new Aperture 3 does suck : I cannot get to upload the definitive version of this photo, much better cropped than this one. It appears on my screen but cannot be sent by mail or uploaded... It just drives me mad. I am very disappointed with this software by Apple.

For "Get Pushed" round 17, I was paired with the young and so very talented Rachel, aka "Girl in Sneakers". Check out her response to my push...it's amazing! She challenged me to create an image which tells a story. She gave me examples of themes such as: vision; fate; destiny; love; sadness; hope; and redemption, to go by. Also, the challenge required using a road as a backdrop, and to incorporate 3 of these 6 items she listed: a clock; feet (bare or with shoes); 3 books; eyeglasses; or a person (not looking at the camera); a photo of someone you love (in a frame). What an interesting and fantastic challenge!

So I pondered the possibilities for a while and admittedly was stumped. Eventually I decided to just move forward without so much of a plan, to go out on a photoshoot, 'wing it' and see what I came up with. The shot of me running is where I started, and then I built the image from there, out of several other images I snapped. My concept is about time, and how there never seems to be enough of it. Therefore, I'm always trying to catch up. The crooked clock is for my warped sense of time; the turtles for the speed I seem to be at; my dog Moxie who is always watching and waiting for me to play with her or take her for a walk; the castle is about high hopes and dreams; the moon coming up shows the day is nearly over but also to always reach for it; and last but not least, the sunflower and the butterfly to remind me that no matter what, its all going to be okay and to just simply go along & be happy! :)

I don't use Photoshop very much, as Lightroom is my software of choice, so the collage techniques used here were a learn 'by the seat of your pants' type of thing. It's getting more familiar each time I use the program but I know there's so much yet to figure out. For a more realistic appearance, I tried creating more shadow effects but going as dark as I really needed to -made the shadows look too black and fake. Most of the hard shadows on the road are part of the original shot. After taking it through Photoshop, I played around with it in Nik Software's Color Efex Pro, applying a few different filters. Then back to Photoshop to subtly apply 3 different Kim Klassen texture layers. Fun!

Thanks for the push, Rachel! :)

I took this shot a couple of years ago at Joshua Tree National Monument. I was scouring through my image library looking for shot of a climber that I had taken and saw this one. It was kinda like finding a 20 dollar bill in your pants pocket while your doing laundry :)
