Headed out to FCF with Lance and Rami, half hoping the gate will not be closed. Alas didnt get too lucky there. That gate added 4 unncessary miles to the hike in the not so awesome ice and slush. The consistent rain didnt help the situation at all. We were about 4 day late from prime, may look pretty and all but I got 3 word; cold, wet and miserable. Haha. Got to 2 miles before the trailhead, seeing the icy scene and i realized i had forgotten my spikes.. Opps. Stole one side of Rami's spike during the hike and when I got here, precariously slide around those slick ice to get to the edge for the selfie. :) Cold, wet and miserable but I guess it was still a pretty scene! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
A Sliders Sunday creation. The unedited Smurf Rock just has a single left eye. Even with just one eye, it's a pretty cool rock formation!

BNSF 2042 leads the charge towards Galesburg on the Local with two Warbonnets, and a trio of rebuilt SD70MACes.
Train NX-12 has wrapped up switching cars around from the Sunday Pittsfield run and passes Canaan station with the next day's freight in tow for the southbound trip to New Milford. The Housatonic is leasing GATX GP38-2s while their aging GP35s undergo repairs.
The containers are used as a mobile repository. If there is an empty one it is swapped for a full one. Agile driving in tight locations is daily work for these drivers.
Smurfs is my favorit when it comes to fictitious characters. This is my little garden Smurf who is dealing with some autumn leaves.

Photographed a couple of weeks ago before we had our own little smurf. Nights are short and a new balance has to be sought, but we are having a great time and are very happy.

43059 & 43055 working 1Z30 from Cardiff Central to Carlisle seen crossing the magnificent Whalley Viaduct. Whalley Viaduct is the longest viaduct in Lancashire and was constructed between 1846 and 1850 by the Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe & West Yorkshire Railway and has many more arches than its counterpart at Ribblehead and contains over seven million bricks.
The Smurfs have left their mushrooms and live now in townhouses. These houses are decorated for Carnival.
Here’s an Inocybe sp. that a photographed last January in Athalassa National Park, Cyprus. For those interested, this is a handheld stacked shot of 8 RAW exposures, captured with Nikon D750 and Nikon 105 mm f/2.8 VR, and assembled with Zerene Stacker; shutter speed 1/50s, aperture f/8 and ISO 100. The shape of the mushroom and the atmosphere reminded me of Smurfs, hence the title.
