A rather smug looking Dunnock taken in August last year. This is moulting season and this bird will have finished breeding and is now undergoing its post-breeding moult to get rid of all the feathers that have worked so hard over the breeding season

I guess you don't need to hibernate when you are cared for at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. That's news to me. Thanks to a consistent year round food source, they don't need to hibernate as a protection against winter food shortages. They also live significantly longer than wild bears due to veterinary care and lack predation and other threats in the wild. This fella gave a smug look before going back to foraging around its enclosure for snacks. The staff hide snacks in and around the area so the bears will dig and search for food, similar to how they root up foot in the wild. West Yellowstone, Montana, USA, January 2026

Ex-pat Aussie SMUG ONE took time out from his recent family visit back to Australia to fly up to Brisbane to spend some time painting with PALMS.
Some grand plans were brought to a halt due to some typical Queensland torrential rain, but the guys managed to put together a couple of great collabs. Here’s one from the Gold Coast.
Stay tuned.

Big Smug One flew up to spend a few days with me during his trip back to oz and we managed to get busy besides the floods and torrential rain going down in QLD once again.
This one was a fun collab on the Gold Coast.
Big ups bro, hope to smash it again in your neck of the woods soon rather than later!
A wildlife shooting friend put forth the theory that animals feel slightly more secure with a small twig or blade of grass between us and them in reaction to this Marin County Bobcat photo. Any thoughts?
I had a few street art pieces on my "Tasmania list", this one by Smug was the top of the list. It turned out to only be a 5 minute walk from where we stayed.
this one always struck me as a pose ... lights, camera, action.....
That's my Lantana providing the light show bokeh for his backdrop.....
Phill bought me a new lens for my birthday for a camera he bought me a couple of years ago which I wasn't getting on with. Anyway I had taken today of work to go to the local wildlife park to try it out. Unfortunately, still not well enough to go traipsing about so it will have to wait for another day. I have either been in bed resting or sitting in front of the TV binge watching The Crown. Anyway, here is Ray looking as smug as you like to cheer us all up (I am say that in my best Queen Elizabeth voice *wink*)
Happy Furry Friday everyone
Wishing you a healthy weekend

One of a series from the above woodland themed collection, the mural depicts a variety of wildlife found in Glasgow's parks and green spaces. This impressive mural is located on Ingram Street, Merchant City and is by the artist Smug (Sam Bates).
